Does anyone have a lead on someone who does stump grinding in the W. Springfield area? Thanks!

I rented one from Capitol Rentals for $200/day.

Ground 17 stumps in about 6 hrs. It was easy.

Second that. Does good work at reasonable prices. We had them do several tree jobs.

Save your money. Get a Sawzall with the new Axe blade. Cut the roots all around about a foot from the stump, tip it over and cut the tap root and pop the stump out in one piece. Much neater and ready to plant.

The Sawzall's are great tools but that just ain't working for something 2 or 3 feet across.

Or buy a container or two of "stump remover" (essentially pure potassium nitrate) at the local hardware, sprinkle it on, and wait awhile.

You can use the leftover remover as, say, rocket fuel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=qaN8jVgmTtc

If you use a Sawzall on the roots you should not have to cut the 2-3 foot trunk. The roots are rarely more than a few inches wide; but there will be a lot of them for a big tree. I have done this to at least eight trees and can say I will never grind a stump again. Of course, if you plan ahead, it's easier to do if you leave two feet of stump standing so you can get good leverage.

I thought this thread was about a dating app for gay amputees.
