Best Beach?

While we're on the FU Best Awards 2013, which is the best beach within a say 8-hour drive of Ffx Co? I'm tired of Ocean City and VA beach.

I also want to book now before they're sold out! See you at the beach!

Nags Head, Outer Banks, and Myrtle Beach ( in order of distance from shortest to farthest).

The sand is extremely coarse. The water is mixed with hundreds of gallons of boat fuel. The crowd is mostly black savages.

I went to a beach north of Nags Head and Duck called Coralla. I thought it was real nice.

The little ghost crabs were all over the beach and the surf had nice natural sand bars conducive to rideable body surfing waves.

Ocean city saved their beaches at the exspense of the surf. Too much government intrusion in OC Md. and way too overcrowded.

Yea, Murtle Beach is great but a little too far for me. Probably a good 9hrs to get there with kids.

Have fun you lucky duck!!!

Blows. The only halfway decent bay beach is at Point Lookout and that's nothing to really write home about.

Duck/Corolla/Kitty Hawk/Nags Head/Outer Banks are the best within reasonable driving distance.

Some parts of Eastern Shore if you want to get away from stuff.

Sandbridge just south of VA Beach is OK but might as well just go straight to NC.

OC is like Rt 1 with a beach. Used to be nice, now minority gangs prowl the boardwalk making trouble and stealing stuff

The beach by the Bay Bridge, Sandy Point, is mostly blacks left over from older times when blacks did not go to OC. Old habits are hard to break

Myrtle Beach, nickname the Redneck Rivera, do the math on that one

The only one worth the drive is the Outer Banks. The cost to stay there keeps it clear of troublemakers and trashy people

I once flew from Reagan to Myrtle Beach. Cheap fare, ONly took about 90 minutes. Easy airport to get in and out of. Recommend it.

The beach you're asking about is called Sandy Hook. It's part of a state park which is called, cleverly enough, Sandy Hook State Park. I can't say about the complexion of the swimmers, but like most western shore bay beaches, the water quality is so-so, it's often full of nettles, and you have to walk out a mile to where it's above your knees.

Sandy Hook was once part of a collection of chesapeake bay beaches that more or less thrived on day trips from the D.C. area until the Bay Bridge was built in the 1950s. If you're interested, you should check out places like Chesapeake Beach, North Beach, and Deale Beach. Today, these places are mixtures of rich people who want to live on the water, aging artist types, and local boys who like to get liquored up and blow off steam until cousin Darrell, the Calvert Deputy Sheriff, shows up and makes 'em go home.

If you want a nice beach go to OBX or Myrtle, if you want a fun beach then go to Dewey. Orange Crushes and sloppy 20-30 somethings all around!!!

Sandy Point State Park

You need to let the state of maryland know they have it all wrong then and you are correct

All beaches from Delaware to South Carolina have turned to shit. No human with any dignity would waste more than 1 minute in this vicinity.
These once fine beaches have deteriorated by human waste over the last thirty years. Over development, environmental and to much human fat have spoiled the east coast. When you have fecal matter on the left, syringes on the right and three hundred pounds in the middle, I'll go to the Caribbean.

NFIP. Look it up.

Epic moral hazard stupidity defined.

Assholes put the program on steroids in response to the 1993 flooding of the Mississippi River, and now we have overdevelopment on nearly every linear foot of the coast.

I have no problem with the overdevelopment. I do have a problem with the fact that taxpayers are on the hook for damages every time a hurricane rolls through.
