It's an Oneida Nation (Wisconsin) Native American license plate

It says, "Oneida Nation" at the top. It's a 2004 series tribally-issued license plate from Wisconsin, looks like Turtle Clan (there are also Wolf and Bear clans). Pretty cool.

Since reservations can be sovereign "nations" with their own laws, rules, and regulations, what better way to get more revenue and keep it in the "nation," than register cars, issue licences, etc.?

Is it a real Wisconsin tag or just one of those wacky Sovereign ones? I'm assuming it's real since it looks like it has the Wisconsin expiration stickers on it.

Yes, these license plates are genuine and recognized by law enforcement as valid. Lots of Native American tribes issue them. Here ya go: http://www.worldlicenceplates.com/usa/AI1.html

Reservations are of an interesting legal status. We scream and yell about blacks getting shafted... but look at the American Indian.

P.S.: I hate the term "Native American," and so do a lot of them.

+1

Some of the Indian Reservations have living conditions similar to third world nations, and most of the counties and zip codes that get ranked as the poorest in the country are all located in tribal lands.

I acutally may be mistaken, and I'm sorry if I am. I know the Oneida nation is in NY because my son's deadbeat father is enrolled there. There could be a tribe in Wisconsin too.

It is a falsehood; that's why I don't like it.

Really? You say that just because the numbers are different?

Nicdoot: Pay attention. You'll live longer.
