Here goes the double standard again. If it was on-duty and you were in the Fairfax County Police Department, you would be fired. But that is only if you were mid-level management or lower. If you are Command Staff level, you probably would just be demoted like in this case. Command Staff level gets away with everything. If you are demoted, Fairfax County still pays you the same pre-demoted pay rate for quite some time. It also does not effect your retirement because you probably already maxed out with your top 3 years of highest earnings. So this guy loses a few bucks in his hourly rate, which he can easily make up in overtime. So what is the discipline? I see the Fire Department is run just like the Police Department. It is run like a joke. Where is the Board of Supervisors in all this. Quiet as usual (unless it is an election year).

Same happened to a volunteer and he got fired because he was in a low rank. Like you said people with highest ranks get away with it. There are not equal rights.

There is usually a cut off in rank where they will cover up the misdeeds but fuck over the lower ranks for the same offense. In the PD the rank of LT and up was covered. While a Captain would get a written reprimand a Private would get thirty days off.

Commanders will then lie in memo's with facts that are just not true in order to try to justify their position of severe discipline. If you are unfortunately terminated, Civil Service is just as bad. There are no rules of evidence and it is run by Fairfax County. The County introduces hearsay and baseless opinions. The poor employee will never get a ruling for them even if you have witnesses on your behalf. The County of Fairfax makes up their own rules and breaks them all the time. Politicians will never go against Fairfax County. They simply say they can not do a thing and complain to the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors will not even acknowledge or reply to your complaint. Bottom line: if you are upper management and get a slap on the wrist, you never complain. If you get screwed as a lower employee but retain your job, you never say anything because they will come back after you. If you get terminated for an unjust reason, nobody wants to hear it. So County employees are screwed all the time. It is the culture of Fairfax County and upper management does not want to change it because they can do as they want. It is sad, but oh so true.

Sounds like County employees have very little rights in fighting management.

Another satiating and obnoxious scandal in our community it doesn't seem to stop. Like you don't think about your significant other. I have been married 25 years with my husband and he may not be the best man but one thing I respect him for is how hard he works to sustain our home . One of the ones I know about started as a volunteer at one county/city station and then went career at another city dept. Apparently she started fucking one of the trainers (who was/is married with kids but no surprise there based on all the stories I've heard) during recruit school and just continued with him and made her way through a rainbow coalition of others. Turning the Other Cheek

We are not to “repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing” (1 Peter 3:9).

Immediately following His arrest, Jesus was interrogated by the high priest. When He provided an “unsatisfactory” answer, one of the officials struck Him in the face. Instead of literally offering His other cheek to be slapped, the Savior calmly challenged the man’s unjust action. The Lord did not defend Himself or retaliate, but He also refused to accept the abuse unquestioningly, despite the fact that He knew He would receive more (John 18:21-23).

The Bible passage telling us to turn the other cheek confuses many Christians. Are we to stand still while someone beats us up physically or emotionally? No. But we are not to retaliate in kind. Pride will certainly trigger a desire to take revenge on the coworker who stole credit for our work or the family member who repeatedly says unkind words. Yet we are not to “repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing” (1 Peter 3:9).

In daily practice, the situation will determine what form a godly response will take. We may need to ignore the other person’s actions, walk away from abuse, or confront our enemy—confrontation designed to gain understanding and reconciliation is not inappropriate. In fact, Jesus instructs us to transform rivals into friends by means of respectful discourse (Matt. 18:15). Asking “Why do you feel about me as you do?” can reveal the strength of agape—unconditional love—to minister to a hurting soul despite the potential for injury.

Might God be calling you to show agape? Pray for the desire and power to “turn the other cheek” as Christ did.

What other job do you have beds readily available and oversexed, overpaid men and women working together for 24-36 hours straight. This stuff is bound to happen.

which is happening all over the county. so green cards will control schools and fire now can i assume?

sex can easily be offered as a way to entrap. there are some famous va cases concerning exactly that

and these other people. have sex with spouses frequently since they are rich enough. who says they haven't been doing the same thing, possibly during work hours, and simply haven't been caught?

i really wouldn't care if green cards did that HOWEVER.

What We Can Learn from Jonah

You can’t run from God without paying a price and inflicting pain on innocent people.

In the light of God’s omniscience and omnipresence, it is easy to wonder why Christians still attempt to run from Him. Jonah certainly demonstrated that it could not be done, and yet people insist on trying. But why?

Sometimes people who try to run from God are acting out of pure selfishness—it seems we have an unlimited capacity to believe we know what is best for us, no matter what God thinks or says. At times we balk out of simple fear: we are afraid that we might not succeed; we are concerned that others will be critical of our efforts; or perhaps we fear obedience might be too costly. But no matter what our reason is, we often fail to recognize the high price of turning aside and trying to flee from the Lord.

Jonah paid dearly for his rebellion. Not only did he suffer embarrassment, terror, and guilt, but he also jeopardized the lives of innocent men. You cannot run from the Lord without inflicting heavy punishment on innocent people. How many fathers and mothers walk away from their children and say, “I can do what I want. It’s my own life.” No, it is not. You cannot leave little children fatherless or motherless without reaping lifelong pain and suffering. Nor can you sin against the Lord without paying a terrible price yourself and hurting others in the process.

In spite of this awful reality, it is also true that God is forgiving—He offers a second or third or fortieth or millionth chance (Jonah 3:1) He kept after Jonah as long as it was necessary, and He will be faithful to you as well.

The Blue Card proposal presented by the European Commission offers a one-track procedure for non-EU citizens to apply for a work permit, which would be valid for up to two-years, but can be renewed thereafter. The Source of Peace

Don’t waste your life looking for peace in all the wrong places.

It is one of modern culture’s great tragedies: what many people seek and work so hard to achieve is, contrary to what they believe, not a product of all their accomplishments and effort. Millions of people are turning the world upside down looking for peace, while never realizing that the “genuine article” is simply not of this world. Money can’t buy it; success and fame can never guarantee it. Until you have peace with God, you will never experience inner serenity at all.

But here’s the good news: Since genuine peace is not dependent upon outward circumstances, it is possible to experience a tranquility beyond our comprehension, even in the midst of life’s most difficult trials. But this real peace isn’t possible unless there exists absolutely no impediment between us and God—and the only way the barrier of sin and self can be removed is by means of the cross of Jesus Christ.

If we’d simply bring our struggles and needs to the foot of the cross, we would find an abundant source of peace. A heart at rest is not rooted in some worldly principle or philosophy; it can be realized only through an intimate relationship with the person of Jesus Christ (Eph. 2:14-16).

The Devil will take every opportunity to destroy our calm by drawing attention away from Christ to things that may seem important at the time but in reality have no purpose other than to distract. Don’t waste your life looking for peace in all the wrong places—just remember, the Prince of Peace is its only true source.

The Fear of the Lord

The fear of the Lord is positive, healthy and clearly defined in Scripture.

People are frequently confused by talk that has to do with fearing God. Scripture admonishes us to fear the Lord (2 Tim. 1:7), but at the same time, we are told that God has not given us a spirit of fear. So how are we to understand this phrase?

Fearing God does not mean always looking over your shoulder in anxiety to see what He will do next. The fear of the Lord is something positive and healthy that is clearly defined in several different scriptures. A particularly helpful one is today’s verse, where we are told, “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil.”

Many people are bothered by the thought of hating anything. Yet God says we are to hate evil because He Himself hates it in all of its forms for a simple reason—namely, the Lord sees the corrupting, destructive influence that wickedness has on us. We often fail to see any corruption at all. In fact, we sometimes look at evil and think that it’s not really too bad.

Satan’s job is to camouflage iniquity until it appears quite innocent or even attractive. In fact, the Enemy is so successful in his deception that we often fall into his snares without any compunction. That is why we must learn to view things as the Lord sees them. We need to develop such a holy hatred for evil that we shun and refuse it at every turn. When we get the Lord’s view of transgression, the Devil will be stymied in his efforts to seduce us. Although it may not be a popular stance, we can choose to love the Lord and to hate evil.

Many people consider him nothing more than a figment of the imagination, which allows him to work undetected. While he is a defeated foe (John 16:11), he pretends otherwise.

Let’s look at some of Satan’s objectives:

1. To draw us away from God through both direct and subtle means.
2. To thwart God’s purpose in our lives by getting us out of our Father’s will.
3. To deny God His rightful glory and honor, which results from our choosing to live obedient lives.
4. To destroy us in this world.

The Father of Lies (John 8:44) uses falsehood, deceit, and temptation as tools for achieving his goals—and he has chosen our minds as a battleground. Why? Because faulty thinking leads to disobedient behavior, which impedes God’s purposes for us. Erroneous ideas produce vulnerabilities like worry or fearfulness, which Satan can exploit to hinder our spiritual progress.

Although setbacks may occur, believers will not be overcome, because “greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Scripture says, “Take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor. 10:5 niv). Offer a prayer of surrender: “Lord, I offer You complete control over my mind. Reveal any thinking that does not agree with Your Word, and teach me Your truth. Amen.”
