Human Being or Insensitive Savage

1. You see a kid lost. Say in a mall, probably separated from his/her parents. Kid is crying and obviously frightened. The child is also non white. Do you assist? Or mind your business?

2. Senior citizen, similar situation. Senior appears flustered and confused. So flustered to the point where they break into tears. Possibly suffers from Alhzheimers. Again, probably in a mall setting. Do you ask if they need help? Or just turn your head and pretend you don't see them.

Regardless, I'll stop to help, but I'm old school that way.

3. This time you are in a fast food spot or maybe a coffee shop. There are a group of teens. One of the teens is over weight. Obviously lacking in the confidence deparment. The kid is being taunted and clowned. Everybody is laughing at them. Even some of the adults sitting and standing. The kid just looks destroyed. Do you chime in and give the other kids some words? Maybe ask them to lighten up? Or just let the kid suffer and sink into his/her world of shame.

Just so you all know, not down to the details, but I have experienced all three. I have helped in all 3 situations. I'm black and I am not a savage. Not saying that will change any of the ignorance on here, but still going to put it out there. I was also that kid being picked on once upon a time.

The old black man would look at me and say " what? because i'm black you think I'm lost? get away from me you white devil, I'm just trying to find my way home, and whitey is on the moon."

Question #4: You are a black man and are hanging around all black people, people you have known for years, all are college educated and have great jobs...A white guy walks into your conversation, and asks " do you guys think O.J Simpson is guilty?

How do you answer?

Minding your own Beeswax is safe and sane.

But if I was in trouble in any of the aforementioned scenerios , I'd welcome the calming effect of Ahmayzins concern, as soon as I realized he wasn't going to steal my shoes.

I'm driving and see a turtle crossing the road. Since I am not from the deep South, I don't swerve to run it over. Instead, I stop and put it on the side of the road that it was heading toward if I can do that safely. Anyone in a mall? Screw 'em, they're on their own.

Those are actually "Canada Geese", for no apparent reason.

"Canadian Geese" aren't allowed across the border, and they're the ones that go "Honk honk, eh?"

1. Would absolutely help. I'll always help a child.
2. Depends. Could be someone mourning a lost spouse. I probably wouldn't interfere, unless there were clear signs of physical distress.
3. Again, depends. I would want to interject, but if the taunters look they might pull out a gun or a knife - then no. But I might alert security.

I guess the decision would largely be based on physical versus mental distress. Race and ethnicity would not be an issue.

I remember many years ago my car broke down in Crystal City during rush hour. A number of people stopped to try and help. They were almost all black. Really opened my eyes.

Then, I would have said, "No". Now, I would say, "Yes". Then I would ask, "did you ask to be an asshole? Was that a dare? Or do you just want to know for your own pleasure?"

In the deep South they wouldnt swerve either. They would stop right in front of it, put it in their truck, then take it home and cook it.

Me and the cats I hang around....we would probably bust out laughin....lol...then scare the shit out of him. If he was drunk, definitely just laugh. If he was trying to provoke us forreal...don't know. Never been in that situation where someone was trying to provoke some shit.

I don't believe their would be a cub stompin by the educated.

But I damn well would bet it would silence the conversation, the air would feel heavy, followed by a few head shakes of the black dudes thinking about a good ol fashion curb stompin back in the day when they use to blast straight outta compton in their convertible aries K car in the 80's.

I think it is nice to help others regardless of race. I would help either way, but I don't think it is needed to play the race card. I don't see people not getting involved because the kid is non white, I see people not getting involved because we live in a selfish county full of lots of self-absorbed people who only care about themselves and their own offspring.

Katiesmith (thank you for replying btw). Not bringing up race to play victim. Just trying to see how minds work. I do think there are some that would react differently. Kind of like how the world is in uproar when there is a missing white kid (in the news). Let lil Ray Ray be missing, you don't hear about that.

Sidenote: Why do black people always have to die first in the movies? What up with that?
LOL

6. You see a woman at the bar who is completely blitzed. Do you help her get home or do you take advantage and have her do sexually acts that you know she would probably not do if she was sober????

I witnessed a 6'2" tall 250lb man slamming the but of his hand down on his 5yr. old 35lb daughters head at Virginia Hospital center. He kept yelling for her to shut up.

I charged at this man with a look that made him crumple to floor and I'm only 5'8" tall 195lbs. If he hadn't shut the fuck up and let the little girl go he might not be alive today.

What I found really sad is that there were many witnesses who seemed to think what he was doing was ok. Not one of those sick pussified motherfuckers came to my defense when the police came and almost arrested me.

I notified every possible agency in a position to help this girl, over the course of the next two weeks and kept survailance on the monster father, and I was written off as a nut.

May God help that little girl and others like her. If I had known then that the government was going to react that way I would be in prison today.

If I ever witness someone abusing a child like that again the abuser will be mamed and crippled for life!!!!!

Furthermore, because police brutality is so widely practiced in this society, there is a big risk that you will be beaten, tazed, arrested, and charged for some type of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and attempted abduction of a minor if you do intervene. Then, also sued for some type of racism if the child you help is not of your own race.

In the original scenarios mentioned, the best thing is to keep an eye on the individual while alerting the nearest authority or calling 911 on their behalf.

Only physically intervene in the case that someone can't defend his/her self. Then hope the cops that show up are actually capable of human reasoning. Fotunately there are some of them around.

Kill 'em all and let God sort it out. If there isn't a God then fuck 'em. They were dead right(or wrong).
No excuss for rudeness.
What happened to good manners and courtesy.

Been in that situation too and in every case took her home. Except this one time. This random chick...I was trying to walk her to her car. I have not quite seen a chick this drunk, alone in a bar. She fell 4 times before Reston po-po came and sntached her up. They asked me "do you know her sir?". I said "no, just trying to help her before something bad happens." I glady walked away. Good for her. If the police didn't get her, a group of dudes probably would have.
