Can a Fairfax HOA go after boarding houses?

Unless people keep complaining about boarding houses the county just ain't going to enforce the laws. County just turns their head.

Thing is with boarding houses you got potential health/fire issues plus extra people means more and more county services being used with no one really paying for them

Perhaps if you live in a community with an HOA they could enforce boarding house rules. Would help your property values I think. Although in a recent discussion with a county employee the tax assessment process in the county struck me as a tad shady

They can. However most are waiting for the County to do something about it, and the County for the most part won't, because it takes too much resources to do so. BTW in many instances the neighbors could do it themselves, but of course they won't because they want the HOA or the County to do it.

Farifax County will investigate allegations of overcrowding and boarding houses and follow-up with action if warranted. Link here for more info, and to submit a complaint.

People pay HOA dues for them to protect the members rights. All they have to do is fine the owner of the property a few thousand dollars per week and they will get the message.

In many cases, the HOA are reluctant to enforce boarding houses and overcrowding directly. HOAs are under rules about how they can and cant proceed with issues. It is much easier and more more effective to have the county do it.

Investigating and doing something about it are two entirely different things.

Based on my experience, they don't do shit beyond 'investigating.'

Been there, done that. We (the HOA) filed a omplaint at that very link about a hoarder who we later discoverd happened to be a cat breeder and a boarding flop house. The county sent a tag team of fat uniformed idiots who did nothing. They were too lazy to get out of their county-owned cars to even knock the door.

They said that since it's an HOA, it's private property and our mess to sort out.

The hoarder died, all of the cats died and an entire flat of six condos was condemned by the very county that would not act to prevent the disaster. Was that just and fair to the HOA, to the citizens of the county or to the other five families made homeless?

Shame, SHAME on Fairfax County!

A local contractor has been hiring illegals and then murdering them at the end of the job to avoid paying them. HOA got a tip that the bodies were buried at that location and it was a clear violation. The contractor was fined for improper disposal.
