Mine was done at new view laser eye in Reston on, of all dates, 9/11/01. My results were flawless, painless, and I still see perfectly to this day.
I was a bit nervous going into the surgery, but two Xanax fixed that. I recall the entire event as happening so fast that I did not believe that anything actually occurred. I don't recall anything after that, including coming home. I woke up in bed about 9 PM when the doctor called me to see if all was OK (if was).
I think I am a bit farsighted now with age (at 53), but my distant vision is still perfect. I don't spend much (any) time reading phone books or that horrible thing called the Washington Post, so if I am farsighted, it's not an issue.
I will still never forget that first time after LASIK of being able to see individual leaves on trees. Simple thing, but amazing all the same.
