Steve Czaban - sportstalk 980

I was really disappointed to learn that Danny Snyder replaced Steve Czaban's show on his newly acquired radio station with Mike and Mike!

Now you can get Mike and Mike on 4 stations in town but you cannot get any other sports talk shows! That's crazy. Plus Czaban was a much much more entertaining show. I can't take Mike adn Mike's overly rehersed schitck for more than a few minutes. Czaban was witty and entertaining.

Now I am left with the Junkies -- which isn't a true sports talk show but its the closest thing we have in town.

here's hoping some other station picks on the Czab for his morning show.

Brother, I feel your pain, but there are no sports outlets in the DC metro area now that Red Zebra has cornered the market. The real killer is that Fox Sports Radio does not have an internet stream (at least that I could find) which mean that you need to get Sirius in order to hear Czaban and I already have XM. This is supposed to change, but for now there are not a lot of options.

The real question will be how neutered will Czaban (and the other local hosts on 980) be with regard to their criticism of Dan Snyder and the Redskins. Czaban, you may recall, was booted from the Comcast postgame show a couple of years ago after some less than flattering remarks and the Sports Reporters lost their Joe Gibbs interview for much the same reason.

Red Zebra had a virtual lovefest with Larry Michael and Bram Weinstein kissing Snyder's ass all day, while Brian Mitchell, Doc Walker and the Sports Reporters could be brutal. This is a great example while media monopolies are a very bad thing. Should be interesting to hear Pollin and Czaban today at 4:05 reacting to the first day of camp and the Taylor trade.

There will be no reaction from the sports reporters. All 980's on air talent besides doc and coach JT are technically off the air now. Riggins show will now be on 980am and 730am. I was pissed last nite when i realized this! i like to listen to foxsports radio at nite b4 bed with JT the brick and 3rd shift, and last nite i heard that crappy ESPN all nite instead, i was like WTF! i checked the internet real quick and all 980 programming will be replaced by espn crap

WTF, I suppose this is Danny's doing. I have been a die hard skins fan for years, but the Danny is going a bit far. This is getting hard to take. They were local and the Czabe is the best on air talent I have heard in a quite a while. I guess I will have to scan for something else to listen to. How can we get Danny Boy fired?? I cannot imagine cheering against the Skins.

I just check the station and listened on-line. Czaban and Pollin are still on from 4-7. They were just talking about the rumors etc, but that very little if anything has changed to their program

Mike and Mike have grown pretty fucking ponderous. It is apparent the two guys really don't like each other. They spend most of the show making nasty little jabs at each other...in the increasingly rare instances they are actually on the show together at the same time. And when they do a show together, they spend more time talking about Jason Taylor on Dancing with the Stars than anything else.

Mike Golic is decent, but Greenberg comes off like a total fraud who should be selling dishwashers at a Sears in Queens.

Czaban is a misogynistic, anacephalic cretin. The less I hear from him the better. The only thing worse is listening to Mike Greenburg or Bruce Hall (wtf does he know about football?)

I'm gonna miss not listening to Dan Patrick.

Danny Snyders Big ego as the new owner of his radio empire just could not take Steve's criticizm...(dont bite the hand that feeds you, or might in the future). I found out Steve is going to another station in DC > I cant recall the call letters or number. Does anyone know what station he is going to?

I highly doubt this, at least in the near term, as Czaban almost certainly has a non-compete which will keep him off local radio stations, unless you are talking about his FSR morning show.

Unless Steve is fired, then he can go where ever he wants.

So far so good with Red Zebra keeping Doc, BMitch, Pollan and Czab. They drive 980 and they let those people go...980 will cease to exist. I can't believe ESPN continues with Mike and Mike in the morning...at least put Dana J. on and give her some alcohol. Now that would be good morning radio!

Andy Pollen explained that whenever a radio station wants to brand itself as "ESPN radio" that one non-negotiable part of the deal is that they must carry Mike and Mike in the morning.

If you think about it, there is a reason for it. The whole show is like a big info-mercial for ESPN. Every guest is another ESPN reporter. The promote the ESPN brand and programming all morning in an attempt to drive viewers later in the day.

But i can't handle Mike and Mike for more than a few minutes at a time. The schtick they do, and the contrived bits get old fast.

I really miss Czaban's show in the morning but at least we have him in the afternoon.

Someone needs to beat the shit out of Mike Greenberg. For two days in a row he has played the same Marx Brothers bit in reference to Brett Favre. It wasn't funny the first time. And he has his producers put together "bits" ala Howard Stern. Unfortunately none of "Greenie's" bits are actually funny. The man is fucking ponderous to listen to. No wonder Mike Golic is spending less and less time on the air with him.

Fox SPorts Radio is XM 142 all day and all night. Never on Sirius.

http://msn.foxsports.com/radio streams all day all night FSR.

I wont miss Czaban. He humor was relatively childish and he never found a sports team or athelete that he ever had any true insights to share. Instead he just basically bashed and relentlessly criticized anything, anybody and everything. You could tune him in on any given day and take any of his monologue/dialogue and paste it into any other day and you would never know. Good riddance.

Still the best local DC radio show, hands down. Wish they were on for 4 hours.

Anyways, they just Steve Buchantz on. I respect Buchs career here but its time for him to go. He sounds like an old fuddy duddy and drains the show of energy.

Czabe is someone who really knows how to run a sports talk show, unlike the other "sports" morning show, which has little sports and a lot of inside jokes and ridiculous made-up jargon.

How did someone so mediocre at what he does get as arrogant as Mike Wise is?

It would be very hard to find a bigger douche than Larry Michael. I used to enjoy redskin games on the radio but once he made himself part of the radio team it pretty much sucks.

This is true. When McNabb was signed by the team, Michael had nothing but great things to say about him. Once he had fallen out of favor, Michael shit all over him. The guy has no credibility at all. He's a mouthpiece for Danny Boy. That's it.

+1. He's the Smithers to Danny Boy's Mr. Burns. A total yes man.
