Man the rap radio stations are GARBAGE today

As a loyal rap/hip hop fan who fell in love with the music during it's golden days in the late 80s-mid 90s, I sometimes want to weep for the genre's current state. I decided to tune into the 93.9 and 95.5 today and had to switch back to my music collection within 10 min. The crap that passes for "music" today is utterly atrocious. I grew up listening to Erik B. and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Tribe Called Quest, Gangstarr, Tupac, Biggie and the old Jay-z. Those cats were legends in the game and they had bumping beats to go with their meaningful music. Today's pathetic "rappers" like 2 Chainz, Tyga, Waka Flocka Flames and many others just need to crawl under a rock and never come out again. What's even sadder is today's generation openly embracing and demanding more of this empty, meaningless bullshit music. This shit is so disheartening.

I am very eclectic in my music tastes, and I totally agree that most of the hip-hop/rap out today is meaningless and commercial. Complete crap compared to the ear candy of the 80s and 90s. Emo music too for that matter. What happened to REAL rock and metal? Things change...sucks!

Biggie Smalls here, speaking from beyond the grave...

If you want to hear anything on commerical radio with some balls, or at least somewhat interesting, you have to wait until late night friday or saturday.

Otherwise its commercially oriented and female centric. This is deliberate as women make the majority of household purchases, and thus much of the media is oriented to them.

c"RAP" is like Disco. It is a fad and hopefully will go away. Bring back real music performed by real musicians with talent.
