Also, the best chicken wings in all of Northern Virginia, Maryland and The District...are found at the DRP. The Del Ray Pizzeria. Great sauce...not too dry, not too wet...not too crispy not underdone.

Go to bon chon chicken in centreville, its korean, but literally the best wings I've ever had compared to the above mentioned places... the best. for real.

 

Bon chon is excellent, there are a few of them. Its probably the closest NOVA gets to the perfection that is Cluck-U. But for sheer variety I go with Wing Factory. It's a tossup honestly, pure awesomeness with one or two flavors go Bon Chon, for great wings with variety go BWF.

Yea, I been to the bw factory in sterling and chantilly a few times, pretty decent stuff... I go to bw university quite often, but usually just for drinks, not a big fan of their wings.

Where in Md is Cluck-U? I hope it's not like ghetto MD.

 

Oh a couple are ghetto for sure, but It wasnt always so. Cluck-U was started by an alum of my high school and operates a few stores in MD, eastern PA and NJ (where the dude went to college at Rutgers). It's been featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel. And before you ask, no I dont work for them, I'm just a huge fan and have been since high school.

The best non-ghetto place to get Cluck U is College Park right across from campus, though there is also one in Odenton that's not too bad off. My old favorite in Glen Burnie has unfortunately bit the dust. The recession hit the MD locations pretty hard and as a result mostly just the NJ and eastern PA locations are left. There are a couple more in less savory areas of PG county, but for a NOVA-ite, College Park is probably your best bet.

Anyway, it's great to talk to another wing connoisseur! If you get a chance, make the trip down to Fredericksburg for Quaker Steak n Lube. As far as bigger chains go they beat BWW hands down.

Personally, I like Panda Cafe Fairfax. They serve up big wings that are crispy and juicy.

I prefer seagulls. Very tasty feathered friends. The real question should of been who sells real chicken wings.

If your order is on your table any sooner than 12 mins. they are NOT freshly cooked. BWF pre-cooks their wings and then just "tosses" them in your choice of sauce...that's why they are always dry.

I really like the wings from Austin Grill.

Glory Days Wings are just average. Buffalo Wing Factory wings are pretty good.

I haven't had the wings from Austin Grill but it wouldn't surprise me if they were good, most of their stuff is.

Also agree that wings are not wings if they are boneless. Those are called chicken strips or fingers and are for kids. :p

About This Recipe

Ingredients

1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup louisiana hot sauce
1 dash pepper, Ground
1 dash garlic powder
1/2 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
10 chicken wings
bleu cheese salad dressing
celery
vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

Combine the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt in a small bowl.
If the wings are frozen, be sure to defrost and dry them.
Put the wings into a large bowl and sprinkle the flour mixture over them, coating each wing evenly.
Put the wings in the refrigerator for 60 to 90 minutes. (This will help the breading to stick to the wings when fried.)
Heat oil in a deep fryer to 375 degrees.
You want just enough oil to cover the wings entirely -- an inch or so deep at least. Combine the butter, hot sauce, ground pepper, and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Heat until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well blended.
Put all the wings into the hot oil and fry them for 10 to 15 minutes or until some parts of the wings begin to turn dark brown.
Remove the wings from the oil to a paper towel to drain.

Directions

But don't let them sit too long, because you want to serve the wings hot. Quickly put the wings into a large bowl.
Add the hot sauce and stir, coating all the wings evenly.
You could also use a large plastic container with a lid for this.
Put all the wings inside the container, add the sauce, put on the lid, then shake. Serve with Bleu cheese dressing and celery sticks on the side.
