Fairfax One Million Moms for Gun Control
Posted by: Angelike ()
Date: January 08, 2013 11:55PM

I wanted to spread the word about a Moms group formed to help curb gun violence. The group is modeling itself after MADD, is non-profit and includes a diverse group of members, gun owners or not, and different parties, etc. If you are interested, please go to the facebook page

http://www.facebook.com/#!/OneMillionMomsForGunControlNorthernVaChapter

Much like Mothers Against Drunk Driving was created to reduce drunk driving, One Million Moms for Gun Control was created to reduce senseless acts of gun violence. One Million Moms for Gun Control is demanding common sense solutions to the lax gun laws and loopholes that have resulted in a dangerous proliferation of deadly weapons.

We are not asking our government to ban guns. We simply support common sense solutions to the overwhelming and increasing gun violence in America. Moms are an important voice that when harnessed will wield significant change. There are 4 million NRA members; there are 84 million American moms.

One Million Moms for Gun Control is asking our elected officials to:
1) Ban assault weapons and ammunition magazines of more than 10 rounds.
2) Require background checks for all gun purchasers.
3) Report the sale of large quantities of ammunition to the ATF.
4) Limit the scope of concealed weapons laws at the state level.

One Million Moms for Gun Control is demanding common sense solutions starting with the 113th Congress. Our organization has in less than one month garnered thousands of members and established almost 100 chapters across the United States. The rapid growth of social media and the organizing power of the Internet will ensure our success. We are the wave of change. Together, we will inspire action.

It is said that a mother’s love for her child is unstoppable; be sure that One Million Moms for Gun Control is as well. Join us at

onemillionmomsforguncontrol.org or

https://www.facebook.com/OneMillionMomsForGunControl."

thanks,

Angelike

Finally! Someone acknowledges that farmers need assault rifles. It's about time. Do you know how hard it is to shoot down crows over a corn field when you can't purchase a 100 round magazine?? Thank you moms!

Hey Moms,
If you want to stop your kids from shooting up schools, how bout stay home and raise them instead of heading out for that second mocha latte before pilates after you drop of your kid at the penal institution where they'll be spending the next 18 years, where, in order to keep their emotional reaction to be abandoned under control they'll have to be drugged.

hmm? how bout that?

Good luck, since you wouldn't know the difference between any firearm, and I doubt if you've even fired them. What's a gun do by itself? Nothing, just like any group such as this. :)

Anyone who cares about their children will support this cause. Simply if you like your right to have a gun more than you love your children you are scum. Our children will never be safe again with the prevalence of guns in this country-never safe at school, never safe at a mall, never safe on a plane, never safe at a movie. I love my children. Very much so. Yet to turn in my firearms, would put them in a bad position, since criminals have millions of them. Do you think they would? If so, you need to stop drinking the kool-aid. My children will have the right to bear arms, to go hunting, and as a last resort self defense. Obviously, if they are in the house and someone breaks in, they know to barricade themselves, and call 911, and let the police handle it, but depending on where you live, its going to be at least 4 minutes minimum.

Don't start with the "selfish shit" either, because you know that the 2nd amendment shall not be infringed. If you feel that way, perhaps you need to move to another nation, such as the UK. They banned firearms, and guess what, violent crime increased, just like it did in Chicago, where the highest gun violence rate is along with the tightest gun restrictions. But perhaps that's just an "inner city problem," and those people don't matter, nor do DC residents have a right to protect themselves from thugs.

You can only fire one firearm at a time. Thats all you'll ever need.
And a rifle and/or a shotgun if you shoot animals. I've only met a few real hunters during my exploits of the world.

Morons. I feel safest when I'm at a shooting range with other experienced shooters.

You can keep your rape whistle and 911 on speed dial.

Let me guess- you're pro choice, too, and don't care about the million abortions a year that none other than Bill Clinton wanted to make "rare."

A shooting range? Sounds so NOVAginia. Like hanging with boys with guns?
I rather hang with the bears on the copper river catching salmon.
And roe vs. wade is gift from the Supreme court for men who got drunk and woke up with someone else's wife.

Actually that's not entirely true. I can fire two 9mm's one handed if I wanted to, although there's no real need. As for hunting, rifle, shotgun, depending on what species, caliber makes all of the difference. When I go out, I often take a 30-06 for deer, along with bringing a .243 for coyote. .22 for rabbits.

I would think that if you really care about your children you would get them psychological help when they are showing signs that they are crazy and might pose a danger to themselves and others. Jan Falk does not care about the children. She cares more about not letting everyone else have guns than she does about taking care of her crazy kids.

All good Gordon, yeah I got that. And you are right though unfortunately that image well, yeah I think of that too. Its pointless to shoot two firearms at one time for any reason, whether tactically, self defense, hunting, you name it. I did it to prove that it could be done, using two 9's, which of course have no recoil. Yet I do know of one idiot, who tried that with two .44 mags at a range. Tool. No one was hurt, but the ceiling has an extra hole. Unreal.

These are already done. Every state has their own laws and regulations concerning concealed weapons.

You need to do your homework before you start an organization like this.

so let me see if I follow this - simply trying to "convince her that since she is not a farmers, police, or government" could result in an assualt from her?

If you moms are really concerned about your kids then how come you re-elected Oblama. He's burying my child and grandchildren in debt that will destroy their futures. And don't even think about continueing to blame Bush. Oblama stated in 2008 that bush was irresponsible and unpatriotic for adding 4 trillion to the national debt in 8 years-I agree. Oblama has added 6.3 trillion in 4 years. When we go into economic colapse you moms are gonna wish you had a few assault rifles around to protect yourselves since you don't really care about your kids. You're just sick liberal control freaks. Remember when you and children and grandchildren are being gang raped by bands of marauders that you were forwarned. They'll sodomize you and your kids to death like they did ambassador Stevens. Oblama couldn't care less. He not only failed to provide armed security for Stevens, he armed drug cartel thugs with some 1400 assault rifles thru fast 'n furios and swept both of these tyranies under the rug till after the inauguration. It's doubtful we'll ever pin anything on him because he is such a liar. How dare you liberals try to disarm Americans of any kind of weapon. You lie when you say you just want to get rid of assault rifles because if you get rid of those you'll then go after pistols. All people who are in favor of more gun control should have their names and addresses published so criminals can target them instead of innocent people.

Fucking morons...

So model yourself after a group that has yet to make a difference. How many MADD commercials do you see nowadays? How many people are killed by drunk drivers STILL?

Model after failure - sounds about right.

Dude, that would be a double failure, remember they want to model their name after the failed Million Man March. They should rename the org "One Million Liberal Moms for Gun Control." It is more accurate.

this is not a difference of opinion, it is one selfish set of insecure morons who, because your dick is too small, need to have weapons as a symbol of your insecurity, which ends up killing our kids (your kids too,but I guess your dick is more important to you than your kids)

Do youhave a valid argument, or opinion, or anything? Or would you just like to sit there talking bullshit that makes no sense?

Im guessing its the latter. You should lookup the term 'critical thinking'.

actually, I'm not too into guns.

but to unfriend someone just cause they have an opinion different from yours?

that's just kinda sad, yo....................no matter which side of the fence you are on

if you cant have a rational dialogue on the issue WITH YOUR FRIENDS, then how can you figure to have one with others? that's all I'm saying - that it makes better sense to discuss with friends rather than dump them for their POV

Agreed. Now when that discussion turns into one person telling the other to 'suck start your Glock', then the friendship is nullified.

Anyone who wants to destroy the 2nd Amendment and confiscate my firearms is not my "friend".

"We are not asking our government to ban guns. We simply support common sense solutions to the overwhelming and increasing gun violence in America. Moms are an important voice that when harnessed will wield significant change. There are 4 million NRA members; there are 84 million American moms."

I don't believe one word of the quote from the OP. We've been down this road before with the Brady Bill and the "assault weapons" ban. We also know that if
new legislation passes the anti's will trot out another bill before the ink is
dry. "Common sense solutions" is right out of the Brady Campaign.

I trust this million mom group will really tackle the issue of gun violence head on and really make a difference.

Considering the vast majority of gun violence is gang related and minorities targeting other minorities, the first thing they will do is encourage young single minority females to use contraceptive, abort kids they dont have the financial means to care for and simply not have kids out of wedlock. Right? This is the first thing they will do right?

If someone "unfriended" me, I would be so upset that I just might have to shoot them.
Do I use:
Glock 19?
Glock 23?
Glock 36?
AR-15?
AK-47?
Remington 12?
Eagle 50ae?
Walther ppks?
Etc.
So many guns but so few friends.
Life has so many choices,
At least for us gun nuts.

Half the Brady bill was declared unconstitutional. The assault weapons ban
was allowed to expire because there had been no impact on crime whatsoever.
Yes, the 2nd Amendment is still here but I'm fully aware of the agenda of the
Brady Campaign and that is to ban the manufacture, sale, distribution, and
possession of ALL firearms. Sara Brady and Obama/Biden are all one in the same
on this issue. I don't trust any of them or any of their supporters.
I also remember right after the Brady bill passed, the anti's rolled out
Brady 2. The only thing that stopped it was when Newt Gingrich was able to
engineer a Republican takeover of the House of Representatives.

I own several firearms, each for different uses. The 9mm is fine for close quarters self defense, or as a back up, but the Glock 31 .357 sig is my pick for preferred carry gun. Then again, I don't need a gun to make up for my handle here dude, as it was an example of the plausibility of firing two guns at the same time.

Somebody out to get you or paranoid?
Sometimes my shadow smiles at me but I just smile back. I haven't done acid in 33 years but that damn shadow is persistent. I tried to shoot it once or twice. Can't remember how many times tho.
Good luck with that gun addiction thing. And do not shoot kids or people in the mall

Define addiction. Having several firearms for self defense, target shooting, and hunting doesn't make you the next mass killer. With your doing acid, even though 33 years ago, I hope you will not be owning any firearms due to your obvious flashbacks.

I do watch CSPAN but the debate hasn't started there yet. Meantime, I'm
expressing my opinions to my elected representatives. Unfortunately, I'm probably wasting my breath on ConMan Connolly and our two Senators.

Funny you post a tune by Lee Greenwood. He's proud member of the NRA.

Love the poster. Hilarious shit. The sad part is most of the ladies I know love guns, and would be either "fuck this" or "let's go to the range."

I never understand why, after every gun related tragedy, we get gun control activists trying to pass laws that have absolutely nothing to do with those tragedies nor would be effective in preventing another one.

The Newtown shooter stole the weapons he used from his mother. Background checks for private sales would not have stopped this.

"Assault rifles" are rarely used in gun crime. High capacity magazines exist for many kinds of firearms, including pistols. Limiting the number of high capacity magazines won't have an impact on the number of deaths in these events - the shooter will merely bring more. No one yet has managed to take one of these guys out when they've gone to reload. Concealed carry laws have never been a problem - I am now aware of any mass murders in recent memory committed by a CCH permit holder.

These groups would be better advised to call for better mental health laws, funding for armed guards in schools, and other potential solutions that don't involve curbing the rights of law abiding citizens. It makes zero sense.

First I wish the people wanting to take away my rights would at least educate themselves on firearms, know what your speaking out against. Better yet have someone take you out to a range and let you learn first hand.
Secondly next time you want to take away our rights go stand in the middle of Arlington Cemetery and look around, all those men died for us and our rights. I appreciate the sacrifices they made. I don't own a AR but it is my right to buy one if I want one.
More children have died at the hands of abusive parents then have been killed by AR or guns with with large clips combined. Where is the outcry for them?

Because liberals always talk out of their ass. Not knowing the subject matter doesnt stop them from claiming to be experts. Their real agenda is to confiscate all guns leaving the citizens at the mercy of a communist government just like in Cuba and China.

"The study, which was conducted in May by GOP wordsmith Frank Luntz, revealed the following data points as well:

74 percent of NRA members believe concealed carry permits should only be granted to applicants who have completed gun safety training.

68 percent of NRA members believe concealed carry permits should only be granted to applicants who do not have prior arrests for domestic violence.

63 percent of NRA members believe concealed carry permits should only be granted to applicants 21 years of age or older.

75 percent of NRA members believe that concealed carry permits should be granted only to those applicants who have not committed any violent misdemeanors."

I'd guess that there is a full range of views from no restrictions (i.e., based purely on Constitutional right) through some saying that they should be more restrictive to individual differences around specifics of certain questions (e.g., old enough to serve in combat at 18, should be able to buy a gun, etc.).

The point being that I don't think that Huffington and most of the other "left" press that picked this up understood that these ARE the current requirements versus some new requirements. That's very clear in the comments by most of Huffington's audience and certainly in the comments made in Twitter reposts as well as by others on the anti-side who carried the story.

E.g., The article states "A survey of National Rifle Association members and non-affiliated gun owners conducted by a prominent Republican pollster shows that there is broad support for certain provisions that would restrict the sale of guns" (i.e., not that they already do).

^ Actually I should have said these are the current restrictions, among others, for CCW permits in addition to sign-off by local law enforcement.

Purchase restrictions are in addition to these. At the Federal level they include felons (convicted or indicted), fugitives, drug users, those with dishonorable discharges from the military, adjudicated mentally defective and/or committed, those subject to restraining orders, illegal aliens, those who have renounced US citizenship.

Beyond those, various State and local restrictions exist over and above which vary by jurisdiction (e.g., need to be over 21 and present proof of US citizenship in order to purchase an "assault weapon" in VA, need to be over 21 to purchase handgun ammo, etc.).

Just like any unsecured object in ay given perimeter, the/any gun or so called 'weapon' does not become a 'weapon until an individual decides to use it as such.
The real problem is the 'given individual'. This is where the real problem is. Just like with the automobile or any motorized vehicle. It is not the vehicle that is dangerous, it is the person behind the wheel of it. Or, with the gun/weapon, the person holding/in possession of it.
Much tighter restrictions, mandated and enforced much more seriously on the given individual should very well already exist. Once any person is found to be morally irresponsible in this catagory of endeavor, such as, for example, a persons driving record could very well be utilized, sensibly, as an exampled indicator by the appropriate authority, along with other law infractions, easily, to determine a given individuals mental capacity. Then, in turn, make the decision on wether the given individual is allowed to carry or own a gun. Or carry anything that can easily be used as a 'weapon', for that matter.
We must protect the rights of sensible, well reasoned individuals. In turn, their right to own and carry a gun, or weapon. Without having to go thru 'proving' they are 'well rounded', wholesome, sensible individuals. Their assumed innocent, clean record shoul be proof enough. Let us face it, now, folks, this is supposed to be, at least somewhat, or to an extent, a FREE country. Is the word Freedom suddenly become some sort of relic of an idea these days? Going Fascist or communistic, are we? Hope not!

Sweet baby Jesus, amen. So sick of hearing ignorant fucks talk abou "assault rifles". Just run down the street screaming I'm a fucking moron, instead. There is no difference in lethality between a semi automatic hunting rifle and an assault rifle in a given caliber. Nor do high capacity mags matter, in the case of a mass murderer. It takes 2 seconds to swap a clip. Ask for whatever you want and debate away, but don't be an ignorant fucktard.

"Once any person is found to be morally irresponsible in this catagory of endeavor"- this is a completely insane assertion. You would need to be able to predict before someone goes into the "morally irresponsible" realm, which of course is ridiculous. These men (all 20 something, bright, white) were outside the system, didn't have a record, you would get no where in preventing massacres. Sorry, buddy, the problem is the guns, no matter how much you want to ignore it, your decision to have a toy gun is killing kids, you are responsible and by definition lack character and would fall into your own category.

This is great news! We no longer have to be responsible for anything we do. Sorry, if you can't predict it, you can't hold someone responsible. Society will just have to blame whatever weapon of choice is used. Great liberal thinking.

I love range day. Have a few in the morning, load the gun up and head to the bar.
Quick lunch and a few more. Going to the range.
Use some mouth wash and head on in. I'm damn good at 25' but can't see that piece of paper at 50. When I finally hit it at 50' I will feel qualified and be really happy. The wife told me to pratice drunk because that is my usual condition.

Learn what? Not to overreact and allow the President to even consider Executive Orders to bypass the Senate and House to implement what he wants? Don't you think that's slightly unconstitutional, along with being against everything our nation is both founded on and known for?
