DWI-related charges

I always look through the Fairfax Co. Police weekly activites report:

I noticed that at the top there is always a quick summary, for example on the current one it says 106 DWI-related charges. Just below, it shows what directed patrols have come up with in that same week.

In the last week, over the span of four directed patrols a total of 10 DWI drivers were caught.

My question is: why would FCPD post that they took the time to do directed patrols, when said patrols accounted for less than 10% of DWIs? And where did the rest come from, routine traffic stops?

Maybe you need to know what a "directed patrol" is. A directed patrol is a small number of officers, as few as 2 to as high as 8, that go out for a few hours with the sole purpose of arresting DWIs.During the holidays they are done a lot. Most DWIs are made by officers working regular patrols in between handling calls.

you haven't lived until you spend a week in the wv regional jail. i say step up the directed patrols. all drunk drivers should be treated to the hospitality of the faifax detention center which is a cut above even wv rj so i hear.
