Sorry the pics are at night so the quality isn't the best. However it's kind of sad to see it like this. Let's hope the next mall isn't a crime scene like Springfield Mall turned into

yup it was pretty much the same way during the holiday in 2011 i remmber driving to sprinfield mall from potomac mills springfiel mall and the surrounding area was dead compere to potomac mills neighborhood which was buzzing with all kinds of traffic.

Well to keep the new mall from becoming a crime scene all they need to do is close the metro station.

Metro was a contributor but not the cause. Springfield was a nice community. It never was attractive and all the beltway and I-95 construction since 1990 didn't help. 22 years of bullshit due to total incompetance is a embarrasment to this state. This is when the area really started deteriorating.
All ot the improvements to Springfield were for others and not the community itself.Springfield was a sleeper community and got fucked in the ass because no one was paying attention.

The eradication of the brown savage would also help the situation in Springfield. There've been all these glamorous renderings of what the new Mall will look like, blah, blah, blah...Although the structures were indeed dated, the problem at Springfield Mall was that once the Latinos took it over, the white man no longer felt welcome.
Shit...that old Mexican restaurant (ironically), Taco Laredo was basically turned into an illegal night club (it was never zoned for that) and eventually decayed into a front for prostitution, illegal drugs and a headquarters for MS-13. This went on for years before the Mall or FCPD even acknowledged they had a problem, much less do anything about it.
Until Fairfax County gets serious about enforcing illegal immigration, illegal occupancy in its housing, motor vehicle laws (to include licensing, uninsured motorists and vehicle inspections) things will continue to deteriorate. It won't matter how nice the new Springfield Mall looks.
