Fairfax County needs a Waffle House

Fairfax County needs a Waffle House! IHOP just sucks. I hate driving to Fredricksburg for my waffle and hash browns scattered, smothered, covered, diced, peppered, and chunked.

1.Nobody needs a Waffle House.
2. Alexandia already has the Wafle Shop
3. Fairfax County is not the South
4. FFX County does not need a Cracker Barrel, a Circle K, a Piggly Wiggly or any of those other redneck hotspots.
5. There aren't enough rednecks in FFXC to support those substandard stores.

Wasn't Virginia Kitchen in Herndon originally a Waffle House?

"

Our story begins in 1973 when founder John Andrews opened his first restaurant,“The Waffle King”, in Huntington, WV. The Waffle King’s claim to fame was “breakfast served anytime”, with the restaurant open for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. John’s success encouraged him to open several additional locations, including two in Virginia.

John opened Waffle Kings in Fairfax and Herndon in 1977. John eventually decided to sell the Fairfax location, and focus his energy on the thriving Herndon location.
When asked why he changed the name, John said that he wanted to focus on an expanded menu of homemade items, and wanted to be known for more than his famous waffles. "

Since when is Circle K considered "redneck?"

If you have to ask......you might be a redneck.

I was born and raised here in FFX county. The Anita's on 29 was originally a Waffle House turned into Shakey's Pizza and has been Anita's since late 1980's. I would love to have Waffle House and Shakey's back. News flash anything from Mason-Dixon Line south is in the South. I was born and raised here and I was born Southern by the grace of God.

Have any of you actually been to Waffle House? I am currentlyin Georga for a long-term assignment, heart of Waffle House country, and the only saving grace is how cheap the prices are (less than $4!!!!)

McDonalds Deluxe Big Breakfast Platter is better.

Waffle House is only good if you're unemployed or very low-income, which I don't consider Fairfax County to be.

NoVA is not the south. Well, there are a few southerners from South Punjab, South Vietnam, and South Korea. But other than that, no. Waffle House is long gone along with every other remnant of southerness. Meade can sing about it all he wants, but the south left Nova long ago, never to return.

Just because Fairfax may or may not be in South, this isn't a limiting factor. There are several WH locations in Harrisburg, PA which technically is the north (north of the mason dixon line), as well as several in NE Maryland and in Delaware.

I'd submit that if we have enough population to support substandard fare dished up by places like Tippy's Tacos, there is room for Waffle House.

The Piggly Wiggly that I hit in Litchfield Beach, SC is pretty nice. Small version of Harris Teeter. I don't know if that one is a specialized one, but it is way nicer than the Bi-Lo next door and nicer than Safeway and Giant up here, albeit smaller. I buy rub and BBQ sauce for slow cooking pork shoulders up here when I am down. They have a few local products that are really good.

Why would you want a Waffle House? It's a sign of decay. Tippy's Tacos is gourmet compared to Waffle House. Jim Gaffigan pretty much nails it:

I love waffle house! and no- i'm not a "redneck" (although I'm not entirely sure what that means here-) I always thought it meant a bigoted person from the backwoods. While bigotry sucks, one shouldnt be a hater just because someone hasn't had much education, speaks with a souuther accent and is from a rural area.

I can't stand IHOP or Silver Diner, when comes to breakfast! Their pancakes taste like the plate that it comes on-and they don't seem to know what real Maple syrup is -hint: Aunt Jemima doesnt make it! ! Cracker Barrel breakfast is good- and Waffle House is a great non-pretentious place to get inexpensive decent food
.
If you are use to paying an extra $5.00 just to fit in with most other places in Fairfac County, just add that to the tip.

Well, it's a good place for Probation and Parole agents to find their missing parolees. Patrons get an early morning wake up as the agents stroll in....

Your movie quote is exactly my point. Bill and Ted were in California, not Carolina. Circle K was always a western US chain until being bought out by a Canadian company who decided to slap the brand onto all of the regional mini-mart chains they already owned.

Circle Ks are already coming in for some Exxon stations in Reston. Agree we need a wafflehouse. Biscuits and gray w/ a sweet tea for less than five bucks is pure awesome.

I lived in Fairfax County for 25 years and recently moved to Ft.Payne Alabama. The best waffle I ever ate was in the Waffle House in Ft.Payne, and boy is it a dive, the employees are down-home wonderful. I think Fairfax needs a retro-Waffle House, complete with orange stools, booths and wood panelling.Don't know it until you've tried it! Oh, and waitresses with Southern accents.

I could see a location in manassas off of 66, they appeal to travelers. There is no market for one in fairfax, as there is limited availble land off of 66 or 95. My father, who hates fast food, only goes to waffle house because it's quick, and in his words, "they won't fuck with your food because you can see it". Always stop at the last one north on 95 in maryland

The Virginia Kitchen is the most delicious and reasonably priced place EVER. Sometimes there's a little bit of a wait during the peak weekend times, but it's totally worth it. Eat up them biscuits... mmmmmmm

There's always Dumfries, VA or Frederick, MD if you need a "Waffle House".

No wonder it's open 24/7.

You really went back 8 months to respond to a dead thread about Waffle House? Really? You felt your opinion about Waffle House was that important?

I have been to the one at Rt 234 and the food was good unless you look down at the floor with all the paper and crap down there cig butts yuck!, If you like a waffle served with a side order of used ear wax Q-Tips and cig butts burned matches to look at I guess it would be alright....Awfull House.
