Police/Fire Scanner for Fairfax County

For those interested the boris.serveirc.com Police Fire Scanner for FFX county is back up and running. This is an alternative to Radio Reference and IMHO the reception and coverage are better.

Instructions here:

http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/wiki/Scanner

You can also get the scanner by downloading the Speex app on your iPhone or iPad.

Listen to FFX finest as the chase the baad guys.

If you want to use the scanner you should download the Teamspeak V2 client and not the newer version 3.

We plan an update later in 2013 to a more standard format.

On the other hand, maybe you could get a date once in a while and stop scanning police/fire radio.

It returns! Thank you terrysb!

Are you scanning all of the County Police Dispatch channels? What about the Ops channels?

Can you give a list of all the channels scanned?

Thank you!!!

We are scanning about 75% of the FFX Public Services Trunk Network which includes all dispatch channels, ops channels, and tactical channels for both Police and Fire.

I had a date once. We hung out in the parking lot of the 7/11 and listened to the police scanner..I thought it was a great night, although the woman didn't talk much and got all upset when I kept offering her more convenient and tasty 7/11 fare. I thought she might be Miss Right, but sadly, I never heard from her again.

I still listen to my police scanner...

Actually no, I had to go lie down after plugging my girlfriend. Which I was doing while your geek pimple ass was listening to firefighters respond to a nosebleede at a high school. So by all means shove your scanner up your ass dipshit.

Yes, look up Scanner Radio by Gordon Edwards on the Android market. Best scanner for android by far!

Plugging your girlfriend? You mean your mom can't change her own tampon? Good times.

You don't know how to have a good scanner date.

I get laid every time FFX police use the helicopter to play wild goose chase.
And how about that knock out FFX K-9 team? Has K-9 EVER found ANYTHING?

The FFX track record on actually catching someone after an incident is dismal. Despite the massive number of cops guarding the perimeter, k9, and the helicopter they are nearly always a day late and a dollar short. If they get one guy in a hundred they are lucky.

The one time I did hear them get the bad guy they had two dogs and the guy cornered in a hotel parking lot. When K9 went in they had to call for rescue because the dog bit one of the cops on the leg.

P.S. Listening to the scanner while attempting to get laid is an admission of erectile dysfunction.

it's been down since we had those winds. It doesn't appear on 5-0 radio as an option. Just fire and rescue.

From my understanding and research on the issue, FCPD has transitioned over to encrypted, trunked digital systems and as such I'm not sure if any websites or radios can access their frequencies.

I read Fairfax Counties Fire and Rescue scanner 5 X 2. Sometimes very garbled. When did they go to a digitized/computer voice instead of actually having human dispatchers on the radio? Last time I listened was before the first of the year.

is a german trying to get this system installed so DC nigs can be un-exposed while running police scams

it's true public broadcast can tip off criminals. however encryption can also allow very bad people to become dictators hiding everything they are doing and saying

the best system is probably no system

radio or not? reliability is what they like. including ability to send and receive when the telco's are all 10ft under water. how: immaterial

so cite cases where citizens have caused havoc with fairfax due to lack of encryption - ei citizens on the police band yapping ? zero?

site cases where encryption is used to cover up crime? TOO MANY.

site cases where encrption is used to prevent investigators from viewing material? countless.

site cases where employees can be fired and not access equipment or company files becasue they've "lost their password" and it was given to ... a political favorite? encryption is how you are LOCKED OUT.

is locked out what you want to become?

I never hear the FFX Police helicopter anymore. That damn thing used to fly over my house EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. Maybe it does not fly out of the West Ox Road location anymore?

Seems FCFD recently moved to a digitized Fire Dispatch. Rather annoying IMHO but it may take some time to get used to listening to Betty Bot dispatches.

I hope PD Dispatch will not go to this, not likely but possible.

FFX is using some Encryted channels, but mainly for Special Ops.

Overall Public Service Comms for the most part should be in the clear for many reasons. This time of year you can quickly tell when the roads and weather turn for the worst and when you need to stay off the roads.

Radio reference / broadcastify has had a combined fairfax police and fire feed up since last spring, pretty clear, not garbled. It is dispatch-only and doesn't have ops channels, apparently that's against radioreference rules.

Questions for scanner nerds or LEOs in the know, I have heard two terms used occasionally and I don't know what they mean, any info? "ADP"... assault by domestic partner? annoying drunk in public? That and "Signal 600", they'll announce that and an area but no details beyond that seem to come later.

I was bummed with automated fire/rescue dispatch too.
