I actually think the mall is run pretty well - it's very clean, a lot safer then any of the other mall's in the area. I guess you haven't been to Tyson's lately cuz they are totally out of hand when it comes to the sample hounds bothering you.

I prefer Tysons. Stay away from Dulles.

Just go to the main Mall office and complain about the kiosk people everytime bother you. Apparently they get fined whenever someone reports that they were harassed by them.

Was there on Thursday. Got in, bought what I needed and got out in under a half hour. Not bad for a Dec. 20. The kiosk operators were'nt any greater problem than the women with their strollers (many of which had no kids in them) and the older folks on scooters.

OTOH the Santa line looked like it was 2 hours long.

When they come up to you don't even break stride- look them in their eyes, with a stern voice say "no thank you i'm not interested" and keep walking. They try to say something else ignore them and walk away.

If you act like you even want to listen to them, they will keep talking.

You all need assertiveness training.

We will NEVER EVER go back to that mall. You can't take one step without them sticking packets or helicoptyers or some crap in your face and trying to block your way. Fair Oaks Mall is just a sleazy Israeli flea market.

Santa line is not worth the wait. Overpriced photos and you get pushed through so fast by grumpy staff it is terrible.

I do all my shopping at Prince Georges Plaza.

Mall is a dump and always a mess. Dirty filthy restaurants.Bad management of what should be a decent mall. Go to Dulles instead with better stores and much cleaner and more sanitary.

Fair Oaks is fine for what it is, a bastion of suburbanites. As for the kiosk folks, they are irritating, but on a plus side, some of the chicks are fucking hot. Plus, the painted on pants are appreciated.

Yeah I remember that. That was a cluster. I agree with your view on parking, as its at least less of a hassle at Fair Oaks, then it would be at Tysons and other malls in the area. Much better choice for that alone. However, yes, damn it kiosk folks :)

Horrible place to try and shop. Those kiosk people need to be tossed out. It's borderline assault. Now they try and grab you. The mall doesn't care. They pushed the kiosks in the tightest areas so when you try and walk by you are trapped. Sucks!

Our family used to like the Christmas decorations with all the animals at Fair Oaks. Now it's just one blue bubble that looks like a mosque. Pretty ugly and even Santa is worse than those kiosks and is now trying to sell parents some stupid kids movie.

Fair Oaks is the best mall in town. You obviously haven't been to it in a while. This is a nice place.

As a former associate of this mall I will say that it does get very crowded around Christmas, however compared to places like Tysons it's not that bad. Either way I wouldn't be complaining about malls being crowded because at least people are spending money this season

I turned around and called her a stupid bitch. The sand person's husband got pissed and tried to punch me in the face. I dodged the punch and tripped him. Fair Oaks Mall is a NIGHTMARE!! This Filipino woman wanted to skip the line for Santa and made her feelings known throughout the line that SHE and her KID were more important than the rest of us. She wanted a pic with the Princess BUT wanted to go through the whole line, not just get a pic with the Princess!! So I'm supposed to move my kids out of the way that have been here just as long, if not longer so you can be entitled to move ahead of me and the people who've been waiting the almost 3 hours. F&*( that! I saw her get into it with the Santa people and Customer Service. She didn't come back. THANK GOD!! Her, her husband and her kid needed to move the hell on!!

What I want to know is what brilliant person came up with the idea of naming the roads in that area as "Fair Lakes Shopping Center," "Fair Lakes Blvd," "Fair Lakes Circle" and "Fair Lakes Parkway." That was truly fucking brilliant - and better yet, putting the "circle" "parkway" and "blvd" in very small letters below the much larger "Fair Lakes" makes it even more brilliant. Do the people naming these roads have their head up their ass but I'm guessing I already know the answer to that question.

As was posted in the other thread about Fair Oaks Mall, a good number of the Israeli kiosk people are now gone. They have been since early last week. Four kiosks and the one full storefront they had were raided by the FBI and the employees taken away as part of a money laundering sting. There are now only two or three kiosks where the people will actually approach you instead of seven or eight.

And it still beats the crap out of dealing with traffic/parking at Tyson's Corner. I can't think of a single store there that I have need for which Fair Oaks doesn't have and I can think of a couple which Fair Oaks has which Tyson's doesn't that I go to on a regular basis.

The L.L. Bean store is a shadow of what it was when they opened it up. Last time I went there for a replacement item of something I'd purchased several years earlier I found that they no longer stocked that item or anything like it. If I want L.L. Bean products I can get access to a larger variety and better assistance through their website or catalog than in the craptastic store they have at Tyson's Corner.

So while I might have need of an L.L Bean product, I have no use for that store.

I hate the kiosk operators at Fair Oaks Mall. I have found the mall management office and made a complaint. It matters to me and many people we know. We do not shop at Fair Oaks because of it. It is horrible.

There are only a few kiosks that aren't a problem. Aside from those, the kiosks makes Fair Oaks feel like a third-world country with thieves and hoodlums at every turn. Not classy.

Yes, the kiosk people are the worst. I had some Russian chick follow after me because she thought I was rude.
I was walking quickly. She asked if I wanted a sample. I said "no thank you". She then responded with "can I ask you a question?" In an effort to stop me. I said no and that's when she got really rude.
That mall needs to disciple those kiosk people.

Tysons Mall: Large and pretty high end, has a movie theatre too, parking can be a pain in the ass sometimes

Landmark mall: boring as hell, some shopping centers are more exciting than this mall

Springfield: pretty sure its all shut down by now, used to be pretty ghetto back in the day

Fairoaks: simple, pretty regular mall, nothing really exciting tho, just pretty simple

Dulles: pretty boring, some people who come here are just straight up rude tho or just very strange / off

I've never had a problem with kiosk salespeople. They're usually just people trying to make it in sales who know when they're being ignored. I get it, they're human advertisements and their job is to get your attention and get you interested in something you probably aren't going to buy so they can be annoying but haven't we all accepted this? Obviously there's a line between them doing their job and stalking or being overly aggressive, but I've never had a problem in the NOVA area.

I remember having problems with panhandlers in Springfield mall but that's shut down. Hopefully they can combat the bullshit walking out of the metro station if/when they re-open that mall.
