Blue Ridge Arsenal is Ok. Guys are cool, have a 3 person special thursdays. NRA range is a bunch of douches. Sharshooters is also a good range. Theyre all kinda similar

Blue Ridge has a good set up, decent folks. But the best one is Clark Brothers. Yes you have to buy their ammo, but its not much more than anywhere else. (Close to Remington, VA). It also has a range master, established safety protocols, and its outdoors, giving you longer distances to sight in rifles, and a handgun area too.

BEH just told me about a great one in Newtown, Connecticut....

I used to take my kids shooting at Clark Brothers. I really liked the strict range rules and the Range Officer was like a Marine Gunnery Sergeant.

Try Silver Eagle in Loudoun. Nice place and people. Gave up on blue ridge when they told me that I had to pay for damage to the target clamp. Shooting 9mm and they claim I shot holes in the clamp. Also there are alot of untrained/skilled shooters there and the occasional self inflicted wounds.

The NRA in fairfax, Clark bros is a nice outdoor situation, It can be crowded at times, but it's great to shoot outside.

That's the key is safety. Was it Ermey aka Hartman? :). Clark Bros set up is great, and per the post up above, outdoor shooting is where its at. CF Phelps is another outdoor one, although due to it being free, the wait times can be very long. Also, while you are shooting your 30.06 or 12 gauge, prepare to jump each time someone uses their .50 muzzleloader next to you

Blue Ridge arsenal is ok, I never had a problem. It all depends on how far you want to drive. I hear the silver eagle is ok also.

Whats wrong with the NRA range? Been there many times never an issue. Plus I know my fee goes to support the NRA. A good way to piss off liberals.

I would like to shoot my shotgun (20 gauge no slugs) and shoot at slightly longer ranges.

Clark Brothers I note requires you to use their targets. What types do they sell? Presumably just paper?

I also guess it's less crowded during the week and during the winter?

If you're there on the right day, they get Messican day laborers
to cut the grass on the range and say you can feel free to shoot
at them! (Kinda like hitting balls at the guy gathering golf
balls on the driving range.) Once in awhile you'll see a Latina
hotel maid running from side to side. Get her and you'll receive
a coupon for a free hour of range time and a T-shirt. It has to
be a clean shot though. Winging them doesn't count. They play
mariachi music on these days to add to the festivity!

Annual membership is just $35 hardly enough to cover the range usage you suggest should be free, let me guess you voted for obama where you expect everything to be free. I dont really get into all the gun stuff just use the range for practice several times a year, but I know my being a member pisses liberals off to the max so $35 is a small price to pay.
