WASHINGTON - The son of Virginia Congressman Jim Moran has pleaded guilty to assaulting his girlfriend outside a Columbia Heights bar earlier this month.
Patrick Moran pleaded guilty to simple assault and he was sentenced Wednesday to one year of probation. He must attend domestic violence counseling and perform community service, according to D.C. Superior Court records.
He was arrested on a felony assault domestic violence charge Dec. 1 outside The Getaway, in the 3400 block of 14th Street NW, after police saw him grab his girlfriend by the back of her head and "slam her head into the metal trash can cage in front of the nightclub," according to court records. The altercation left Moran's girlfriend bleeding heavily from her nose. Her nose and right eye were swollen and she was taken to a hospital for treatment, court records say.
Moran left his father's re-election campaign earlier this year after being caught on tape discussing how to commit voter fraud. His father, a Democrat, issued a written statement to WTOP responding to his son's guilty plea. "Patrick and (his girlfriend) are both good kids and I hope their privacy will be respected. They look forward to putting this embarrassing situation behind them," the statement says.
"Patrick and (his girlfriend) are both good kids" Really Jim, I hardly think bashing a girls head into a trash can qualifies as being a good kid. But maybe so using the Moran scale.
What a tough guy beating up on a girl, loudmouth bully just like his dad.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. What's with the Moran family beating up women and children?
Also, I didn't realize domestic violence was "embarassing." Using terms like "embarassing" stigmatizes women and probably prevents them from coming forward.
Where is the outcry from all the womens groups about abuse? Oh thats rights Little Jim is a liberal democrat so the free pass is issued. I bet he is an arrogant ass like his dad.

Well.....Its not like he left her for dead after driving his car off the road into the Potomac and dissapeared for hours while she drowned.

He's an old man now. But I bet he would have in his prime.
I grew up in Boston, and I never saw an Irish kid back down from a fight. Never.

Jim Moran's daddy played guard for the Redskins in the 30's (Boston Redskins back then). I don't imagine that a pro football player would allow his son to grow up a sissy.
But why don't you go take a swing at him and find out for us?

I saw a recent pic of the son, he looks flabby. But he is typical Irish with the big mouth.
A football player, the grandson of a football player, does not a boxer make. I remember Ed Too Tall Jones from the Cowboys thought size and strength would make him a world champion boxer. A guy half his size kicked his ass in his first match. Stamina, power and quickness is the name of boxing. You think because he can push around some broad that translates into a boxer taking on men instead of women?
People thought Tyson was small for a heavyweight.

Google Irish boxing champs. You'll find a long list of them going back to the bare knuckle days.
Thats way before the sport had lots of blacks. Irish guys cut easy. While you can still have gas in the tank the cut over the eyes will stop the fight. This isnt John L Sullivan days where they fought until one guy was totally done in.

Well doc, I stand corrected. A mick never won a fight.

I have no idea what environment you need to be raised in where that is something you do to someone you are supposed to care about. I suspect we havent heard the last of Jim Jr.
