Unless you have tenure at a university, you get paid like a 7-Eleven manager. And most adjunct instructors (the majority of teachers at most colleges these days) get paid closer to a McDonald's fry cook.

Some might say that the average FCPS teacher is more challenging than the average NOVA instructor and work with higher-level students. Just a thought...

This is one place where market efficiency is in play. NOVA "professors" are paid in accordance to the quality of the students they teach.

Or it could just be a case of "the blind leading the blind". Teaching at NOVA is a lot like studying at NOVA. You go there if you can't get into a better school.

It's understandable. Friedlander brings a lot of good pub to VT.

George Mason didn't accept them. If they are going to NOVA, they didn't get into Mason.

George Mason only accepts the ones that go to NOVA and manage to get their shit together. When they transfer, they may be lucky enough to transfer a semester or two worth of credits.

+10

State pay and bennies are absolutely terrible. I don't think they've had a raise in 10 years. McDonnell has been looting the pension fund so they can't even count on that.

Plus they are pawns in the political games they play in Richmond every year.

Awful outfit, don't even think of working for them. It's amazing this State functions as well as it does.

I guess you couldn't distort logic enough to claim that this poster is wrong.

I can see that you are having trouble with this. High School students apply to several schools. If they don't get accepted to any, they go to NOVA. A few of those dimwits (I'm assuming you fall into this group) manage to get their shit together and get good grades for 2 or 3 years at NOVA, and they apply to transfer to GMU. Some of them get accepted to GMU.

I guess that's where you have trouble with logic. GMU didn't accept them, and they ended up at NOVA. Some of them were able to transfer to GMU after proving themselves and making good use of a second chance. They are at NOVA because they can't get into a better school. Those that can improve their grades leave NOVA for better schools. In which case they are not at NOVA because they can get into better schools.

Maybe you thought the person who wrote that was saying people who go to NOVA can never get into a better school? That would be overthinking or just a plain ornery desire to find fault in anything anyone says.
