Hope you've seen this, Edward, on one of the other threads where you state your righteous indignation at teacher salaries. Please, Edward, pay me by the hour if you're so outraged that school is closed. And if you think this hourly rate is ridiculous, consider it's what I make for tutoring.

So I figured out my annual pay if I were paid by

Oh, and don't forget that if I'm hourly, you've got to pay overtime, and that's at time and a half if I'm not mistaken. Oh please, please - pay me by the hour.

I see nothing wrong with most of these numbers. I believe that teachers should get paid a lot its the future of our (not mine cause I dont have any but our as a group) children (or my current generation) and if they dont do a good job they should be fired Many dont do a good job but the school cant fire them cause theyve been there too long thats what I have a real problem with.

Yeah, given this area and the cost of living- these salaries are in the mid/lower area. If we were in Idaho maybe it would be a bit much but NOVA is an expensive place to live. Honestly, they deserve more.

The problem is the county continues to pay those salaries and benifits to county employees until they die. The private sector doesn't do that.

Plus teachers only work 6 months a year and get full salaries.

The county doesn't continue to pay those salaries and benefits until they die. When they retire VRS (state pension system) will pay ~50% of the employee's avg of the highest three years' salaries. FCPS has a supplemental plan, the ERFC. It provides about 25% of the avg three years' salaries.

FCPS really doesn't pay anything towards the retiree's healthcare.

And, ERFC dwindles down to nothing once you qualify for Medicare. My mom gets $15/mo. From ERFC.

Just wait until you whiny FFX taxpayers see what I'll bank next year with a step increase and a paltry one percent pay raise. My pay will bump about 8 thousand skeeters. Greenbacks. Benjamin's. GWs. Dinaro. Peso. Euro. Bucks. Dolla.

All for barely nine months work. That is, if you call babysitting your brats work. Sucka

...there is no teachers union. How much do you make? What is your contribution to help young people live better lives and how much time do you devote to this vocation? Must not be much considering you see fit to publish other peoples earnings. The key word, earnings. They earn their money.

If they only worked 6 months I'd be teaching. The vast majority of teachers are 10 months, with 90% plus working summer jobs.

Can someone, anyone, justify paying Karen Garza $300,000 a year along witn a housing allowance, car, phone and Internet? The woman was a complete failure at everything except maneuvering her way into a better job. I hope the door hits her fat Texan ass on the way out!

FCPS could hire four teachers for the cost of one Executive Director or program head. Do the math. If they eliminated the overhead they could hire more teachers to combat overcrowding. Instead they cut the little people from gatehouse and pack the out-of-school administrative offices.

Honestly all these people worked hard to get where they are today. It's absolutely disgusting that many of you would vocally tear these people down as quite honestly I don't think any of these men and women are compensated enough for the services they provide. Most of these salaries are well under 100K and anything under 200k is not surprising at all if you have a valuable college degree. Maybe you decided to screw around throughout hs and college (if you even went to either) but don't take your close minded idiocy out on the hard-working staffers of our educational system.

I didn't go to college, because my teachers sucked and never taught me grammar.

Certified athletic trainers diagnose and treat injuries of all of the athletes at a particular school. They also prescribe light physical therapy for injured athletes. They EARN those salaries.
