We have laws in place that prohibit non-citizens from living here without a work visa or other documented permission.

We make only a slight effort to guard our borders.

For the most part we only deport about 10% of those in violation of the immigration laws.

The reality is that we need these people. They are our servants. Most of them would pay little or no income tax if they were legal because their income would be so low.

They consume products and services and they pay sales tax.

They are not eligible for most government services beyond free clinics and food banks.

They help small businesses by doing hard work on the cheap.

The answer is that no one is going to do anything to the vast majority of these people because we need them and they help our economy.

They created a financial powerhouse in Manhattan for the world to admire. They allowed social mobility for all men and women and threw aside the caste systems of the old world. They created a fair and equitable nation that attracts people from all over the world.

Give them in state tuition rates then when they graduate give them an incentive to become legal citizens. They get a good job and pay taxes, they have kids that are way less likely to grow up ignorant then the kids go to college and become taxpayers as well as overall productive citizens. Win, Win, Win.

Thats just it- we do let them steal from us every single day for years on end. We have laws against illegal immigration but they are only enforced in a tiny percentage of cases. Do we do this because there are just too many of them? I have heard that there are like 11 million illegals in the USA. I guess it is similar to speeding on our highways- millions do it every day but less than 1 percent of speeders get a ticket on any given day it's just a problem that will never be resolved.

They do not do work for me or my family and are not our servants. they have taken away many construction jobs, many domestic jobs, etc. I and many members of my family and friends have held those jobs, we have picked fruits and vegetables, and would work any job to support our families. The lie that they do jobs Americans won't do is just that, a lie. And I guarantee you if these politicians, hollywood elitists and media were worried about being replaced by illegals, they would not be advocating for amnesty or allowing them to stay in the US. So many childhood diseases that had been virtually eliminated are now on the rise in the US yet again. When people come to the US illegally and not through proper channels, they bypass the safeguards put in place to guard our nation not only against unwelcome illnesses, but against overpopulation and cause a financial burden that we cannot overcome. They drive without license and insurance and cause injury and death to many Americans. When your employment or your loved one's employment is terminated and replaced by an illegal for cheaper pay, or you have had your child suffer a major injury (as has ours) or someone you know and love has been killed by an illegal, then and only then will we see a change in attitude.

Joe Dirt, here is an idea. Get educated! It is not that hard to finish college with a Computer Science degree and TAKE a "skilled" job. You sense of entitlement is the reason why US has been steadily falling behind in technology and innovation. Can't beat them, hire them.
