Bench Warrant/Arrest Warrant
Posted by: Inquiring Party ()

Got a question...

Is there a place online to see if someone has a bench warrant/arrest warrant?

I've used the search button, but came up with nothing.

Thanks in advance.

i also used the Seach Ticket thing on the site, but didn't come up with anything, and i'm pretty sure my friend has a warrant.

call the magistrate's office. If I recall they are open 24/7. I don't think FFX posts warrants anywhere online, but if they do, it's the domain of the sheriff to hold them.

call 703-246-2178 and stay on the line until a magistrate answers. They should be able to hook you up. You can also call the sheriff's office but not sure what the hours are.

it's a phone.. you could just pretend you are him... but it is public information so there is no reason i can think of they can withhold the info.

Or you could just call the Warrant Desk (that's where the magistrate would tell you to call anyway) 703-246-4231

Make sure to call from your current home phone.

Maybe they'll send somebody out to meet you in person with the information.

This certainly is a "friendly" site. Seems there are always plenty of Good Samaritans here asking legal questions on behalf of their "friends" fairly frequently.

It was for a drunk in public. He missed his court date.

I called, and he doesn't have one, so I guess they dropped it? Do judges do that a lot?

Make a point of getting pulled over by a cop. You will find out real fast.

Oh sure, blame everything on drinking.

Maybe "the friend" missed it because he was high on meth or crack?

Judges don't issue bench warrants for charges that are themselves not jailable. They also don't just "drop" charges when a defendant doesn't show up to court. A drunk in public charge is a class 4 misdemeanor and jail is not a possible punishment. Fine only. He was most likely tried in his absence.

Since you've already gone the extra mile for your "friend" why not run his name through the Virginia court system's online database and see what the disposition was?

Like i said in the first post, i put it through the thing on this site. I'm "going the extra mile" because hes in the hospital, and asked me to ask on this site. i had no idea this site even existed until he asked me to post on here.

What is the Virginia Court system's online database link?

http://www.courts.state.va.us/main.htm You will need to know what court was on the summons and the full name.

you don't know enough to know your full of shit

YOU CALL THEM AND SAY YOU'D LIKE TO COME IN ON YOUR OWN WILL IF YOU ARE NEEDED

INSTEAD THEY ARREST YOU AT AN AWKWARD TIME particularly one which will cause you family and work damages

that's the reality: and don't bother they skipped court on the lawsuit
