neighbours dog

I live in an apartment that I share a floor with 3 other units and one of the neighbours dog barks every single time somebody comes or leaves, even in the middle of the night. It's gotten very bad and I feel like we all have done everything we could to resolve this, many neighbours and I tried talking to them , we called and wrote to the apartment management but nothing is being done about it. What is the next step that we can take?

Get an air horn and blast it under the door every time the dog barks. Dogs hate horns.

+1

Obtain a large stereo system. Play loud heavy metal music at full blast when the dog barks. Or, in the middle of the night, but only for short periods. That way they cant get you for noise disturbance because the time is short

How about one of those high pitched noise generators - in the 50,000 to 75,000 Hz range. Humans can't hear 'em but dogs damned well can!

Why not just call the cops? Go tell them that if it happens again you'll have no choice but to call the cops. And then follow through with your word the next time it happens.

It's sorta funny to think up goofy ways to get revenge, but that's majorly passive/aggressive and most likely would only escalate the situation.

I recommend not warning someone before calling the cops with a noise violation (meeper, you're too fucking nice sometimes man). In many cases it's reasonable to assume the sound penetrated multiple other dwellings... let them wonder who turned them in so they don't try focused revenge.

Many years ago I had a noise problem where the adjacent unit
would blast their stereo as loud as it would go. Loud enough
that I could not carry on a conversation in my apartment!

I am a professional DJ, so after a lot of this abuse,
I went into my bathroom and set up my equipment.
I turned it on.

They turned theirs up.

OK, you want a war?
I turned MINE up.

(I had to leave the premesis to avoid permanent injury.)
Came back about 10 minutes later.

Noise problem permanently solved,
in a most satisfying fashion.
They never turned theirs on again,
as far as I could tell.

(LOL not because I went deaf;
I mean they never tried again!)
