AZ had nothing to do with it. It was a Federal operation. ATF and the US Attorney's Office both within DOJ. That's why Weinstein, Melson, and the rest were forced to resign. And there's more coming once the civil judge requires that the Administration release the documents withheld under executive privilege.

suggest that ATF had advance knowledge of the firearms purchases or

No, they do not report to the state. They are Federal entities which are completely separate and correspond to various regions of Federal authority in the US. In the same way that the FBI regional offices are separate from local law enforcement. As is the the Federal court system, EPA regional offices, Federal parks, ets., etc.

Basically, it's about the equivalent of Mexicans building a center in Texas called the "Alamo" as a place where people came together to work out their differences. lol Or maybe Americans building a center in Hiroshima called the "Manhatten Project."

It's not a question of believing that Muslims are good or bad as the person above posits. It's a matter of symbolism which is as or more important in Islamic culture as it is in any other. Cordoba does not imply cooperation any more than, from the Christian side, the Crusades implied cooperation. More along the lines of cooperate... or else. The standard practice at the time being to destroy existing religious sites in territory conquered and to build mosques in their place. It was the center of the Caliphate which is central to Islamic faith even among non-radical Muslims. Somewhat similar to, as a simple example, Bethlehem being significant to both fundamental Christians as well as more casual non-practicing Christians. Belief in and pursuit of the caliphate is not some element restricted to radical Islam, it is integral to the faith. The only distinction being the methods to achieve such whether imposed by force or through assimilation and conversion.
