That's a relatively short time: 2:00 to 7:00 pm Monday. And no winds over 38 knots are forecast. Looks like this is mostly a rain event for us.

The Virginia Power map shows 600 outages in the middle of Wakefield park.

I didn't know there were that many homeless people living back there.

Dominion Virginia Power has 395,000 electric service accounts within Fairfax County.

As of 9 p.m. Sunday night, it says that 35,000 accounts are without power. About 9% of their local County customers. Not bad -- so far.

That is definitely not real time, or even near it.

My neighborhood shows 2 customers out of power. Every house I can see is out.

A couple other neighborhoods I've checked also show 2 customers. Just got a call from my father, he just lost his power about 15 minutes ago, his neighborhood shows no outage.

Lost our power around 7pm. Why does springfield lose power if a deer farts? Our power lines need to be fixed. This is pathetic. My friend in Reston town center probably won't lose power at all.

@ Orange hunt: Part of the reason is because so much of springfield/burke/lorton/fairfax city use Arial delivery for your electric and cable (I work for Cox), poles get hit, trees hit wires.. etc.

Also, I haven't seen Novec posted, so here is a link: http://stormcenter.novec.com/index.cfm

No Power loss yet here on McCoy. Have a decent view of Centreville.. looks like london towne is a little dark, and around machen/new braddock is a bit dark too.

Thanks for the info. I see our power lines out there just dangling waiting for the nearby ever-growing nature to take it out.

We actually lost power around 2-3 for about an hour. Kind of a sneak preview of what was coming.

Does Va Power read FU? They moved the Wakefield Park dot to the beltway/236 interchange, not that there are many homes there either.

At least the homeless in Wakefield Park have lights tonight. Thank God.

Getting some very serious gusts right now, hardcore rain with it. We actually had to turn the deadbolt to keep the door from vibrating. Any thoughts on this storm being simply over-hyped must not be looking out their windows...... londontowne is a little darker than before, and I saw no lights near pleasant valley rd.

Still over hyped. Maybe we haven't seen the worst of it yet, but so far it isn't anything catastrophic. Though I'm not sure we'll ever have a really catastrophic storm this far inland. It could be destroying the eastern shore, while all we'll see is heavy wind and lots of rain.

But look at the derecho. At the time it was rolling through I thought it was a pretty damn strong storm, but it wasn't until the next day when everyone made a big deal out of it. With this hurricane, we've had 4 days plus of people getting all worked up.

Spent one hurricane in a beach rental in North Bethany, one of those beachfront houses up on telephone poles. The whole house swayed so much I actually got a little seasick around 3 in the morning. The next day, the sun was shining, and there were some trees down as you drove further inland. Even that wasn't such a big deal.

The Wakefield Park outage has returned, along with a second dot. Roughly a half mile into the woods north of the rec center.

928 and 2 customers affected, respectively.
