Get rid of smoking on sidewalks, parks, and ouside of stores

Sick of entering a store or restaurant only to be accosted by a cloud of toxic cigarette smoke. Families shouldn't have to inhale second hand smoke at playgrounds and parks. There should be laws in Fairfax County prohibiting people from smoking near enterences of stores and restaurants and in public parks.

Yes. Families should also not have to look at fat people. There should be lawsin Fairfax County prohibiting fat people from being in stores, restaurants and in public parks.

Personally, I think there should be a law prohibiting everything "families" don't like. Why should families have to be confronted with the realities of life?

Yep. The government should take over and ban smoking everywhere. Hell maybe just ban anything to do with smoking. Then they should ban booze and beer cause we don't want to see anyone drunk. All you have to do is elect Romney and he will ban everything fun and good.

You could always just shop online, the internet is still family friendly. And there are never any smokers down at LBJ park or Burke Lake by the bathrooms, take the kids on down there and let them go nuts!

If cigarette smoke is your biggest worry, you don't know that much about airborne health threats.

Diesel exhaust is way more dangerous and carcinogenic. Just a single diesel exhaust particle, if inhaled into your lungs, can cause respiratory issues like emphysema or lung cancer years after exposure. Tobacco smoke (or any smoke from the majority of burning organic matter) requires years of repeated, excessive exposure in order to cause health issues.

You have been subjected to a concerted anti-smoking public relations effort. Tobacco smoke is not dangerous to your health in the concentrations found in outdoor environments.

There apparently is a law in Fairfax city of not the county. Its 50 feet from an entrance. It is posted at various places of business downtown.

Mrs. Honey Boo Boo, you can still fart in public. We can still smoke in public.

I'm sure you don't do anything inconsiderate. Of course not. Because inconsiderate is subjective.

I'm going to ban something you do that bothers me. Someone else will ban something I do that bothers them. Soon we'll just have to remain in our homes by law, so that nobody can do anything that bothers anyone else.

Are you another whiny public school parent?

i am amazed at now many cigarette butts I dodge when walking my dog every day. Why do smokers think it is okay to throws their nasty pie hole smelly cancer sticks anywhere in public? It should be illegal to smoke anywhere but in your own home. Knock yourself out at home.

Maybe we should just ban tobacco like weed. Then the cops can waste there time busting people for that also. And while we are at it maybe bring back Prohibition.

Yeah, smokers are the biggest litterbugs. You can't walk or drive anywhere without seeing butts laying around. I'd love to see some studies on what percentage of smokers just toss 'em when they are done. And what it is about people that makes them think it's OK to litter.

Fortunately, you cannot make that call.

A majority of us non-smokers prefer minding our business over that of others and consequently, are unable to identify with the delusional, uppity plights of a few coddled yuppies.
