it's a yellow flag with some red stripes... wrong flag.

FYI, they are flying the flag of South Vietnam.

The South Vietnamese are the the ones who had to flee following the fall of Saigon. A lot of them came over in boats and went through refugee camps and all other kinds of hardships. They refuse to call Saigon "Ho Chi Minh City" as its been named since 1975 and they fly the old S Viet Nam flag because they beleive themselves to be people in exile. Sometimes you will see a social group together over there who still wear the S Vietnamese army jackets,patches etc...

I have a lot of respect for them as a group. There are of course a few a-hole gangbangers but for the most they are very hard working people anddon't bother anyone. Thank the Ted Kennedys and the other liberals in Congress who cut funds for the South Vietnamese government and let millions get slaughtered and displaced after America sacrifced over 50,000 men protecting them from totalitarianism...

Not to mention those guys would be skewered by the vn community if they tried to put a commie flag. Ho Chi Minh City my ass.

The reason Saigon fell is because the ARVN's threw down their guns, took
off their uniforms, and ran all the way to Ho Chi Minh City. They
didnt fight to defend their government. Then they ran here. Notice
there were no major battles to defend "Saigon".

The South Vietnamese did not really do much to defend their side of the country
because they relied too much on the Americans. I guess the were not
as patriotic as Ho.

Proxy war.. Chinese and Soviets kept arming NVA, American Congress pulled funds and they had few arms left to fight with... Some laid down arms thinking that it was a lost cause and that the country would reconcile, they'd be treated civilly. They got re-education camps and had their property collectivized...

During the "VietNamization Program" we made the ARVN's the third largest
standing army in the world. They had the weapons (unless they just sold
them on the black market) to do the job. They just didnt use them.

ARVN was large and well armed when funded, ammunition supplies were greatly reduced, plus they lost US intelligence..

Then what did they do with all the weapons and ammo? They certainly
didnt use it all up in combat. They were also well trained and equipped
under the Vietnamization Program in intelligence but when their troops
sleep all night instead of doing the job they were being paid to do, what
else could you expect? A VERY large portion of their troops were so accustomed
to making money on the black market, their military responsibilities became
inconsequential. No problem. We also sent thousands of civilians to college
in the U.S. on fully paid scholarships. When they finished their degrees,
they in turn would flee to Canada in order to avoid the VietNamese draft.
Cowardly in my opinion. I have been trying to find a copy of the book,
"ARVN War Hero's" but Borders is unable to find a copy. Do you know where
I can get one?

My work advertised "International Day" a few years ago and had international food, dancing, etc. In the email advertisement, someone from HR put the SRV flag in among all the other flags ... whoops. The company had to send an apology email the next day.

Flying the Socialist Republic of Vietname flag (yellow star in red field) in the Eden Center does not seem very smrt. If the gangbangers are as anti-communist as their parents, I suspect it may well earn you a black eye or worse.

As far as the Vietnamese community in the US is concerned, the yellow flag with red stripes is their flag.

US is not to blame for Vietnamese government's crimes. Why do we have to save every jungle idiot in the world? They live in the fucking jungle. It's primitive. It's kill or be killed. Move to a colder part of the world if you want to not get slaughtered. Stupid jungle people.

I'm sure they have no idea. You should kindly replace the South Vietnamese flag with the official Vietnamese flag one night. I'm sure they will all be pleasantly surprised.

Every group that gets deposed puts up their own front or flag. A lot of the persian restaurants you see around here exist because, after the fall of the Shah of Iran, the embassy staff and their friends could not go home to Iran without pretty severe consequences...

If they're living in the US, the American flag should be
their flag. Assimilate, you damn gooks! If VN is so
wonderful, then go back there. If you don't like how
it now is, then fight to change it - from there, not from

There's no such thing as a hyphenated American. If you
insist on the hyphen, then your loyalties lie elsewhere
and you have no claim on anything American.

Displays of foreign flags other than at an embassy should
be illegal. The flags flying at Eden Center should be torn
down and used as toilet paper.
