Canons During High School Football Games

I leave near a high school and a very loud canon goes off everytime the home team scores. Is this even legal? Do all high schools have canons? My poor dog is scared to death....doesn't this violate sound levels or something? It honestly sounds like a gun firing!

That's pretty awesome. My college did that but I haven't seen anybody around here do so.

Isn't thunder even louder? Is that even legal?

You picked the house you live in, you knew it was near a school. Suck it up and deal with the lights, noise, and students. If you don't like it move.

Canons are for amateurs, my school plays a six-voice fugue after every touchdown.

How can you violate sound levels?

Are you sure that it honestly sounds like a gun firing? It might dishonestly sound like a gun firing. After all, it's a cannon, not a gun.

It's not only legal, it's required by county ordinance. I'm surprised you were not informed of this when you purchased or rented your home. Here's how you rectify the situation. Go to allmetsports.com and look for the teams at the bottom of the Standings. These teams suck and very rarely get to fire their celebratory canon. Move next to one of them. There will be little noise, though you should be forewarned that, should this team score, they may fire their canon twice. So you could end up with quieter Fridays, but with the occasional barriage.

Note that if they fire the canon three or more times, they will be penalized for "excessive celebration" and the score will not count. You, and your little dog too, should view this as an alarm of sorts, because rioting frequently breaks out after this penalty, and property surround the school will likely be damaged.

Good luck.

Buy your own cannon and shoot back if it bothers you that much.
