Pedestrian Victim of Attempted Sexual Assault at Holmes Run

Alexandria police are investigating a case in which a man attempted to sexually assault a woman who was walking in the 5300 block of Holmes Run Parkway.
The incident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday in a wooded area just south of the creek. According to police, a 23-year-old Alexandria woman was walking in the park near the community garden area when a man approached her. He began to talk to her, then grabbed her and pulled her into a secluded area, where he attempted to sexually assault her, police said.
The woman was able to break free and ran away from the man. The assailant is described as a black man in his early 20s, about 5-foot-7 and 200 to 220 pounds. He was wearing all-black clothing.
The woman was not seriously injured.
Detectives do not believe that the incident was related to a prior assault that occurred in the same area on Sept. 12. http://oldtownalexandria.patch.com/articles/police-investigate-assault-on-jogger-in-holmes-run
In that case, a man grabbed a 38-year-old female jogger from behind on the bike path by the parkway. The woman screamed and broke free from the suspect.
Anyone with information about the latest incident or who might have been in the area is asked to call the the police department’s criminal investigations section at 703-746-6711. Callers may remain anonymous.
