Storms = No Power

Why is it that every time we have tunderstorms the power goes out someplace in this county? This rarely happend when the Utility company was private. However, as soon as they (Dominion) became public the power goes out with almost every storm.

While I agree that the infrastructure is bad, alot of the problem are the trees. The freaking trees are overgrown and right up on the power lines and too close to the streets. It doesn't take much to cause an outage.

Because politicians don't give a rat's butt about infrastructure, bridges collapse, levies break, because putting money into those things isn't something pols can brag about.

what if the power goes out for 2-3 days like the last time, do families get reimbursed for the food that goes bad or do they cut the bill for the days with no power?
Electricity is included in my rent and I barely cook so it didnt really effect me but I can imagine families on a tight budget being upset over this.

They cut the bill to zero on the days with no power based on level of electricity consumed.

Seriously, if the expense of an extra grocery trip is going to break a family their problems aren't sourced with the electric company.

I'm sure there's a force majeure clause buried somewhere in their terms of service agreement, there's no way they'd make themselves liable if someone's food went bad. Can you imagine trying to prove a case like that in court? "Well your honor, these eggs would have been fresh for at least two more days, and I demand $1.19 to comensate for my losses."

Like pgens said, if you can't afford to replace a hundred bucks worth of groceries, or buy bags of ice, you've got bigger problems on your hands.

Neen, once again you hit the nail right on the head. I couldnt have said
it better myself. The status quo would rather wait until a disaster
happens and then try and look like heros after the fact.

If you have no power, the meter doesnt turn and so you arent using any electricity- thus, the bill is lower.
