BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV)--A fatal wreck in Berkeley County has claimed the life of a teenager.
According to Berkeley County Coroner, Bill Salisbury, on October 6, at 10:20 p.m. two vehicles were traveling on Cooper Store Road when they collided.
A small pickup truck ran off the roadway and struck a tree. The passenger, 16 year old Ryan Driggers of Bonneau, was transported to MUSC where he later died.
The accident is under investigation by the Berkeley County Coroner's Office and The S.C. Highway Patrol. No other details are available at this time.
"On behalf of the district, I offer my deepest condolences to Ryan's family. Losing a child is an unspeakable tragedy, and our hearts and prayers are with this young man's loved ones and the entire Berkeley High School community," said Berkeley County School District Superintendent Rodney Thompson.
Thompson said extra school counselors were on hand at the school Monday.
