Police Interrupt Street Racing Preparation; 37 Charged

Police charged 34 adults and three juveniles early Saturday morning for trespassing on private property as they allegedly prepared to street race. Police were called to a church in the 15400 block of Lee Highway in the Bull Run area at 12:45 a.m. on June 14. Officers located numerous vehicles and people in the parking lot of the church. An investigation determined the group was preparing to street race.

Officers charged the following people with trespassing on private property and released them on summonses:

A 16-year-old Manassas-area boy
A 17-year-old Centreville-area boy
A 17-year-old Manassas-area boy

The Fairfax County Police Department is dedicated to keeping streets safe. Street racing in Fairfax County will not be tolerated. Anyone racing is subject to loss of vehicle, license suspension for up to two years, imprisonment for up to 12 months and a maximum fine of $2,500.

Never. They weren't charged with street racing, or any other traffic violation, only trespassing.

Cite the Manassas people but leave the FFX residents off with a warning. LOL

Citing these people for tresspassing seems a bit rash. What if somebody just stopped by to see a friend or happened to be there by accident?

In my day the Police showed up and that was enough to make everybody move on.

At a church at 12:45 in the morning? Come on, get real. Everyone there knew exactly what was going on. It's good that they got them before the race. The area doesn't need another disaster similar to what happened in PG County a few months ago.
