Chimney service recommendations

I'm looking for any suggestions on reputable chimney service in the area. Since I'm not familiar with the type of service and area, I have no experience.

You need to have your chimney re-lined before you start any fire in your fireplace. That will be $5000.

Scott tomorrow I'll post here how the guys I have rolling over are. They are recommended by several good friends, for their honesty. I'll let you know how they are, once I get their name, and how they do tomorrow.

Why would I need to have my chimney re-lined? I haven't had it inspected yet and don't know why this would be the first suggestion.

beacuse that is the biggest scare tactic they have and will use this to sell a much bigger job than just a run of the mill cleaning.

I recommend Leopold. He has told me when no work was necessary, and his rates seem reasonable otherwise.

I've used Ahsmasters and the guy was a dick, shit job, shittier attitiude. Was desparate to make some additional money and came down on his price a few hundred on some additional work I needed. Fuck them I did it myself.

Reasonable chimney sweep service is anywhere from $70-$120. As for the rest of the repairs beyond my expertise. Some of the companies, be sure to check their licenses, as there are a lot of scammers in this field, along with the duct work folks.

I got burned by a local company I called Highs Chimmey in MD I live in VA very happy with staff, work done give them a call there honest...

Here ya go Woodburners Chimney Sweep and Repair, ask for Bryan. Good dude, honest. $70 for the sweep, and only recommends were within $100-$270 range. Every 80-100 fires, chimney sweep is good.

If you are a homeowner, I suggest subscribing to checkbook.org. Best non-profit information you can get on service providers. Well worth the money.

use to be a very good chimney sweeping outfit in vienna. did great job cleaning a chimney on my old house that had not been cleaned in 30 years. also entertaining in a whacky way

but they suddenly dissappeared one day. i think there office was in the old post office building on church street in vienna
