Anyone else remember watching fireworks in the KMart parking lot circa 1975? Either the Kmart hadn’t yet been completed or maybe it was the only store around but I recall spectators sitting in lawn chairs in a wooded area.

The schools were being built with minor size windows to help with the HVAC costs, as I recall. They always looked prison-like and as someone else noted the open classroom design was "supposed" to help kids with differing abilities find the right teaching strategy for their learning ability. needless to say, it was not real conducive to a lot of students being able to learn.

Fairfax County Court House about 1862 .In the famous pic with civil war soldiers on the roof and lining up with buckets at the well in a good viewing size, its been posted many times so what the hell one more wont hurt DAJAX . I don't think the 1920 Post Office building has been there since about 1970. It was on Dominion Rd across from the train station if I remember correctly. The train station and Freeman house are still there though.

Tastee Freeze was located on the south side of rat fifty to the west of seven corners. It was open as late as 1980s and sold the best frozen custard. I don’t know what happened after when I left the area.

It was not Tastee Freeze it was the Frozen Dairy Bar owned by two brothers . They Moved to Lee Hyw F.C , Then near where they were , then closed for good and retired . The old VW hippy bus of mine stopped there many times for their great custard , some customers came up from Florida as snow birds taking a long cut to go there and grab quarts to put on ice in coolers to take up to the northern states

From my understanding Annanadale High School was one of the few schools in the nation that had bomb shelters under them. I remember seeing the closed up entrance back in the 80s. Does anyone have any pictures of what it looked like inside? Is it still accessible?
