Conversation: 4 Mile Run goes from Arlington, City of Fall Church to Fairfax. Annandale is closest to Arlington so people who live in Annadale has self interest to extend the work done so far on 4 Mile Run to Fairfax neighborhoods that creates a wonderful success model and community spriit.

That Spirit then can be extended to Accotnnk Creek as well as the next project perhaps. There is only so much money and so much "volunteers" available who care about "green neihborhood" and "Urban Waters".

But community education can strengthn this hugh benefit to all of us here in Nrthern Virginia , one or two adjancent neighorhood at a time.


Anyone has the skills to develop a simple MAP for 4Mile and other major creeks in Northern Virginia, welcome !

Lasty, Chesapeak Bay Foundation haven't yet seem to have found Northern VIrginia. Can we get their attention ?

Sorry but I don't agree that "Annandale is closest to Arlington". I'd say that 7 Corners, Bailey's Cross Roads and Lake Barcroft form a fairly substantial buffer between Annandale and the western fringe of Arlington.

I also find it curious that this would be posted in the Annandale page and yet not be posted on the Bailey's, Falls Church or Arlington pages. It is almost as if Annandale is being tapped not because of any actual connection with the project itself, but rather as a potential source for funds, volunteers or other resources that will be expended on a project benefitting other parts of NoVa.

Avi should stick to Punjabi issues, but he feels he is of a higher caste.

Conversatoin: Good question. What is important to realize for Fairfax County, "Creek Restoration" is a critical element of our Fairfax Metro DC Hub Community.

For example, a major challange & very expensive to do, unless there is neighbors care about the quality of their own neighborhoods with "green neighborhoods" along such a major Potomac River Creek along with "American Civil War in Fairfax was fought (1862-1865).

For those who live along 2 of the major Creeks from Faifax City/Provident District neighborhoods, for example, Accontink Creek, that flows downstream to Richmond Hightway Fairfax Hub Zone community before flowing into the Potomac River.

For background to this topic, I have posted about Nitrogen Fixing Native Virginia Shrubs that can really help slowdown the sediment & nutrient flow into the creeks after a heavy down pour rain such as we have been having.

Yea, "Creek Restoration Challange" at Fairfax is a major "Community Vitality Bridge' if neighborhood support can be martialed. But it will take long time due to the enormity of this "non-point" pollution issue that must be solved with neighborhood support.
