PLEASE HELP!

Hi everyone! So i'm new to the area, next week I have to go to MD via Metro (Green Line) and have to stop by the Nats Stadium area. Many people have told me that the area of South East D.C. is dangerous (Anacostia Station, Navy Yard etc.) and if possible postpone or not go at all, I just want to know if this info is legit or is it just an exageration. So to those who have lived in the area or are familiar with the South East D.C. area I ask for a good answer to this. (If your going to put down a joke or anything inapropriate please don't comment at all.)

Where are you going in Maryland? I wouldn't be worried about the Stadium neighborhood, and where you want to stay away from is Anacostia proper, i.e. across the river.

Parts of Maryland are literally teeming with jigaboos, so where are you going in Maryland?
