Here's a good omen.. it's opening September 11th... what could go wrong.

It will be packed for a while then find it's normal flow of customers.
If they have tacos on the menu and the waitstaff are illegal immigrants
I won't make a second trip.

It may become a hit with new GMU students.. but as someone who at there in it's latter years, I'll find it hard to set foot in that dump.

Right now, mostly burgers, 2 or 3 breakfast items. That better change quickly.

1 page menu- nothing worth going there for.

Wife and I went there on 9/21/14 about 1pm, there only about 6 customer in the place and ton of staff. So you would think we would have been greeted right away. We waited about 5 minutes for someone to take our drink order. The menu was one page. They did not have just eggs, meal, potatos and bread on the menu, but did have pancake, egg and meat.
The food took a bit long to get and my fries were room temp, they had been sitting in a tray under the heat lamp when we walked in.
I am not be going back.
It is nice of new owners to try and save the diner but not even close to a diner anymore.

I had the EXACT same experience. Plus-- it is NOT CHEAP. I hope the owners stop focusing on posting facebook pics, and start focusing on running a diner.
Otherwise, they will be out of business soon.

Ok it's been open a few months now, has anyone else gone there lately?

I thought it was called the Tastee 29 Diner, not Super 29 Diner? Either way, I've eaten there one time, and once was enough. Their prices are too high for diner food (especially the pies). More importantly, whoever was cooking that day, was having a bad day. My hamburger came out raw. Asked for another and it too, was raw, except it had the nice touch of being completely burned on the outside. Inedible.

My friend and I went there in the spring. We definitely liked the fish sandwich and the hot open faced beef sandwich and a great conversation with the owners. I am a child of the '60's and liked the oldies music much. $30 including tip seemed a little high but after some discussion we decided the experience was worth it.
