What is making the White Lines on the Street?

Does anyone know what truck is leaving the trail of white lines on the streets of Fairfax City?

I'm talking about the trail of 6 or 7 parallel lines that show up on the streets every so often. Someone told me it might be some sort of salt solution they pretreat the street with. It's only on the city roads. You can see in the Fairfax Villa neighbor hood that the lines stop right at the city/county line.

That's a new way salt trucks are applying salt to the streets before the storm, I believe.
