Despite shows like "Cupcake Wars", has the cupcake trend finally died? Did we need a cupcake store everywhere we went?

Not died but I think it has reached its plateau. I don't think you'll see any new cupcake stores opening and probably see most of them die off over the next year.

Avoid Cupcakes Actually in Fairfax Town Center. Their cupcakes are dry, tasteless and overpriced. They had a Groupon back in February, and the owner was actually bitching at the customers who should up the weekend before it expired. They actually ran out of cupcakes, but the owner said it wasn't her fault, it was the fault of everyone who waited to the last weekend to use their Groupon. She was really nasty!

I have never been impressed with any those cupcakes stores. Unless a cupcake is fresh out of the oven, its tasteless crap!

I think the next fad will be worm farms. People are going to start to grow their own food to get more healthy food and because of the rising cost of storebought food.

No, the last one may have been the fast salad shops. Weren't there 3 opened in Reston/Herndon in 12 months starting with Saladworks?

No, it is all the self-serve frozen yogurt stores opening in every shopping center.

the business models of the frozen yogurt business are by design, to be temporary. The Owner/operator can make their money back within a year because the start up capital is reasonably minimal and the cost of labor is low. Labor is often the biggest cost driver in any business.

And once you wake up to all of the preservatives and chemicals used on store food, you'll definitely want to grow more of your own stuff.

All of those cupcake places are run by chicks whose boyfriends broke up with them, so they went off to "find themselves" and loved baking or some crap like that. I hope they all fail miserably.

Then you throw in that crappy Cake Love place, which expanded so fast it over extended itself in no time flat. Those cakes are not good.....at all. Oh, and you want a cupcake, here you go, but wait, you can't eat it for 15 minutes....fuck that!

I have friends who go to Georgetown Cupcakes all of the time and they have NEVER seen these two there. Makes you wonder.
