I think those were the guys who built my deck and replaced my roof this year. Did a damn good job too. All they did was work...work..work and were courteous! I hope they get to stay here in the land of opportunity. I certainly havent seen any white 20 something males willing to work as hard recently.

And who do you blame for that? The Mexicans? How about VA's Right to Work lobby that has virtually destroyed labor's ability to enforce collective bargaining. In this country virtually every gain labor has made in the 100 years is due to labor unions....policies at the state and federal level that have weakened labors ability to negotiate in strength is to blame..not the Mexicans..they are merely a response to lousy state and federal policy.

The "white guys" don't need a union to get twenty bucks an hour. But how can they compete with the illegals rate when the white guys have to buy insurance, be bonded, pay taxes, social security and workers comp. The illegals are undercutting them by having no overhead.

BTW if any of the illegals get hurt while working on your property I hope you have mucho home owners insurance because you will be paying for their injuries being you hired them. Also please tell us how much social security payments you are making on their behalf as their employer.

I didnt hire these guys off the street..I dealt with a very American business owner who went out and hired whomever he wanted. Yes, they had insurance...and yes hardly a single guy that showed up spoke English very well...they worked their ass off...were very polite and I would recommend them to anyone.

Listen hear Grumpy...virtually all those programs you mentioned were the result of improvements based on labor union negotiations/demands.

The weakening of labor unions has resulted in labor being considered a commodity...subject to the lowest common denominator wages and benefits. I know it's an unpopular position to defend unions...but those who don't...reap what they sowe....a work environment where they are nothing more then a commodity to be bought and sold at today's market price.

Comparing unions to some sort of government welfare program shows what you thinh of workers rights and the power and negotiating as an equal to management. It is that very mentality that has Mexicans (the weakest and most underrepresented/protected workforce) to our shores.

The downtrodden "Mexicans" as you refer to them have a nice deal going. Being paid off the books and no taxes is as good as it gets. A typical worker has 35% or more of their pay withheld for taxes, workers comp, social security and health benefits.

The workers you hired had nothing withheld and it is all profit. When they get hurt on the job the employer you spoke so highly of will just dump them on the nearest emergency room at mine and your expense.

You are really so naive to the ways of the real world I cannot imagine you ever having been employed in a real job.
