Concord -- His $2.3 million home in Lyme was sold to pay legal fines, his job atop one of the Upper Valley's most successful companies is long gone and his reputation is forever sullied.

But for Breck Taylor, former part-owner and president of Red River Co. of Claremont, the three-year prison sentence he received yesterday for defrauding the federal government of $1.1 million will exact a more personal toll: His wife of 23 years will battle breast cancer alone, and his sons will graduate high school and head to college without him.

“I am a man who made some bad decisions, your honor, but I am a good man, and no one will ever take that away from me,”
