in the 1980's that isle wasn't an isle it was small: and two popular items were
1) no salt pretzels (and trendy for a while fresh pretzels with mustard at the grocery store). try to find any today - i wouldn't even bother. price is jacked up, all have salt.
2) no salt potatoe chips (try to find any without salt today: forget it - aren't there - i checked). they even had chips that weren't deep fried. THEY STOPPED MAKING THEM

The problem with "empty shelves news" is - some are fake. some are immigrant areas taking photos of closing stores before they close out. and during covid it was shown that people had been putting out fake photos. specifically to "SPAM THE INFORMATION - MAKE PEOPLE DISTRUST IT - not believe what they see with their own eyes"
