Colon cancer tends to progress slowly, so early detection is less likely to benefit older adults. At the same time, colonoscopies come with the risk of complications, such as perforation of the intestine, bleeding or incontinence.


There are other less unhealthy procedures for older adults that accomplish the same thing.
