Meade's prowess as a singer is a matter of debate, but it is irrelevant in any case. There are simply not enough people who want to hear Meade sing. In fact you may be the only such person on the planet. The old ladies in retirement homes simply enjoy the company of a (relatively) young male in their midst and half of them are deaf anyway. Certainly the paucity of Meade's music sales to date give a fair indication of the general public's willingness to pay to hear Meade sing.
What is beyond any doubt is that Meade Skelton is entertaining and "funny as hell" as a comic. Meade's unique facial expressions, his incredible moob-flexing ability, the signature Chinese Thing, and his many other trademark moves set Meade apart as a master of using his own body to create humor. Meade's genuine charm and childlike whimsy come through in his over-the-top emotional/tearful monologues on his theological/political/cultural topic du jour. Meade comes across as such a naïve innocent that even card-carrying fudgepacking flaming faggots merely laugh rather than take offense at Meade ranting about the evils of homosexuality. Aggressive, muscular, shirtless militant Negroes are stopped short by the roly-poly flag-waving Meade Skelton. Meade is a rare talent, able to make anyone and everyone chuckle and laugh by his mere stage presence alone.
The legendary Jack Benny started out as a violin player and he was by all accounts quite good and moderately successful. However Benny found fame and fortune spanning four decades on radio and television when he shifted his focus to his comedic talents. Meade would be well-advised to follow Jack Benny's example and give his fans what they want and will pay to see/hear. Meade brings a smile to fans' faces just by being his naturally whimsical funny self. No singing is needed (or wanted).
