Imagine if meade was in fact abused by a certain person who now calls himself 'c---by'. That person, now guilt-ridden but still fond of meade, becomes his mentor. But of course always gives mead bad advice and misplaced encouragement in order to keep him poor, unsupported, and dependent.


Meade's nightmares and hallucinations might stem from such abuse.
