high scores but without a very high gpa jr will have trouble getting into any of those from Fairfax - we flood colleges with smart kids so its harder to get in if you are from Fairfax. Sucks but reality. Id recommend 2 years at NOVA for 6k per year with admittance to UVA for the 3rd and 4th years. Save money and get the degree from UVA.

Cute, but he will still need to check the "negro" box on his application to really get anywhere.

Even with those grades it may not be enough. I've known plenty of kids who graduated near the top of their class with SATs better than this whose list of rejections and wait lists include the top schools in the state as well as the nation.

There are multiple tracks for college admission. Being a great student puts you in one of these tracks, but the competition is fierce. A student who can position himself to be competitive in multiple tracks stands a much better chance of getting in. Schools will tell you what the average or 75-25 gpa or test score of their admissions class was. They don't tell you how many students who met that average gpa or test score didn't get in. At most competitive schools that number is at least 2 rejections for every acceptance.

The idea of a top Virginia state school as a safety school is a joke. If you go to any normal high school in northern Virginia other than TJ or Langley you'd need to be in the top 20 kids in that high school to have a strong shot of getting into UVa or W&M based on grades and test scores alone. Once below that level the kid better be bringing more to the table. If your kid attends certain minority heavy high schools the number of top kids will be even less because the top Virginia state schools will frequnetly pass over the very top white kids in these schools in favor of close to but not quite top performing minority students.

I guess the apple feel far from the tree in your family. "Kid got 34 on ACT and 1490 on SAT". "Kid got"??? What school did you graduate from? Wouldn't the proper statement be "My child scored a 34 on their ACT and a 1490 on their SAT"?

Near perfect scores are not enough. If you are from Fairfax you need 4.0+ plus 99th percentile scores to get into UVA. Good luck though.

NOVA for 60 credits for under 12,000 dollars then finish at UVA for 36,000 dollars plus room and board. Get a UVA sheepskin for $48,000 total - anyone that can score a 34 on the ACT can do the math. $48k vs. $72k same degree and thats not including the room and board ripoff first 2 years - that is another $24k. You can live at home for a lot less than $12k in 9 months.

Chinks with perfect scores are rejected routinely in the California university system, and at Harvard.
They have sued Harvard for discrimination. Harvard has to let in lower scoring kids from other races for their diversity quota. Niggers are so far below the Harvard average score, it’s really embarrassing. This is why the SAT will soon be gone. It continues to get in the way of colleges getting niggers into their school.
