american car makers made all parts "special fit", nearly nothing is generic anymore (even spark plug wires can be a "special fit" only situation). you were told years ago it was to prevent "knock-offs"

Today you find all REPLACEMENT parts are made in china. If there is one "made in USA" you can't use it. Why? Special fit. Only china has one that fits.
