Did you know that at one time, there were no polar ice caps at all?
All the water was liquid and sea levels were much higher.
Several Ice Ages occurred followed by warming which melted part of that ice.
Roughly 11,00 years ago the most recent global warming caused the ice to recede from a large part of The northern hemisphere.
Temperature records for 150 years are the tiniest part of the big picture.
4.5 billion years of Earth's weather history divided by 150 years.
That's even a lover percentage than Pocahontas percentage of Native American DNA.

I used to pray for Global Cooling, but now that it's here I think warmer was better.

The world was mostly molten prior to Hadean eon; you can learn all about it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Earth

Most thinking people realize two very important facts apropos observations such as yours - 1. Humans and especiall organized human society was not able to exist during nearly the entirety of Earth's history. 2. Humans are a major contributor to the current climate change.
