Let them eat cake huh? Personally, we have 6 months carry in cash in the bank. I dont like keeping that much in low interest accts but this is why we do. After that we can borrow a years worth of carry probably more. Personally, we have a vacation planned in 2 weeks so I hope this goes on for at least that long if not longer. We already have 3 weeks paid vacation as a bonus because of this shutdown, another 3-6 weeks would be fantastic!
I do however have sympathy for families and younger people just starting out. A young college grad or family with young kids is unlikely to have been able to save the $50,000 to $100,000 cash needed for these situations. Mortgage lenders and Student loans have made no provisions for allowing delayed payments so these young hard working people are going to be in default of their loans. More than that they will have trouble providing food, medicine and clothing to their families.
Anyway its all part of the death of the Republican party so it will be worth it in the end.
