Fear is a funny thing. The common sense thing would be to stay in your car and get away from tall structures. But then again, fear is a funny thing.

I was in a very old (circa 1915) apartment building, about 15 stories high. Quake hit at 4:30am throwing me out of the bed. Power died immediately, leaving the room pitch-black. The wooden floor was rolling like a waterbed (very weird and disorienting), and it sounded like I was standing next to a roaring train. Furniture tumbling and falling around me. I thought for sure the building would pancake. Scariest two minutes of my life.
